Advice on build/specialization

Post by Wim »

Long time lurker, but now I could use some advice.
I just finished "Destined for great things" and now kinda need to decide what kind of fighting style I want to precede. I like the light equipment and being able to attack 3 times in one turn. Dealing criticals is neat, but some monsters are resistant.

Based on my current stats, what would you advise? Should I change out any of my gear?

Level: 44
HP: 105

Combat statistics:
Action points: 12/0
Re-equip cost: 5
Use item cost: 5
Move cost: 4
Attack cost: 4
Attack chance: 256%
Attack damage: 18-27
Critical hit skill: 52
Critical multiplier: 3.0
Eff. Critical chance: 27%
Block chance: 102%
Damage resistance: 4
Base Combat statistics:
Max HP: 97
Max AP: 10
Re-equip cost: 5
Use item cost: 5
Move cost: 6
Attack cost: 4
Attack chance: 165%
Attack damage: 8
Block chance: 45%
Gear:
Defender’s Helmet
Lightweight splint mail
Dagger of the shadow priest
Remgard combat shield
Troublemaker’s gloves
Vacor’s boots of attack
2x RoLS
Skills:
Hard Hit
Bark Skin
More Criticals
Combat speed (2)
Quick Learner
Regeneration
Increased Fortitude (3)
1 skill available
The stats people have in their sig, are those just the base combat stats?

You don't say what necklace you are wearing, but you should switch it to the Jewel of Falhaven. That will reduce your attack cost by 1, so you will get 4 attacks per round rather than 3. A very easy way to get a 33% boost to your damage per round :D
The necklace Marrowtaint will also reduce your attack cost by 1. You can get that as the result of a quest.
You should also get the Balanced Steel Sword from the Crossroads guardhouse. It's better than DoSP for monsters that are immune to critical hits. I carry both, and switch weapon depending on what I am battling.

The stats shown in signatures are the full stats, not just the base stats.

That's silly, I was was wearing Irogotu's necklace, but I do own a Jewel of Fallhaven. I probably accidentally switched it out at one point and never realized.

Thanks for you advice

I notice that your AD is kind of low too. Your AC is very high, your BC is also pretty good, and you have IF3, so you should put more level ups into increasing your base AD.

I agree with rijackson about your AD being low(add to dmg at level ups) and using the Jewel of fallhaven, you'll get another attack per round with that...and the marrowtaint is WAY better if you decide to go for it. Also, if you are going light armor, which I prefer as well, you should switch your helmet to Dark Protector once you finish that quest, or the Enhanced Combat Helm. I would also suggest you switch into the Bar Brawler's Boots for crits, or the Enhanced Combat Boots when not using crits.
