Have you changed weapons yet? Getting rid of that club should be a priority,
I would, in any case, suggest that you grind for gold somewhere to get the necessary equipment to progress big-time before going anywhere else.
Get: Balanced Steel Sword, Jewel of Fallhaven and Villan's Ringx2, or Villain's Ring + Ring of the Protector (Or Ring of the Protector x2), or even Polished Ring of Backstabbing x2.
That'll require some serious gold-grinding, but it'll be worth it!

Edit: What kind of build are you going for? Balanced/Hard-hitter/Tank/Other?

I really don't want to buy Jewel of Fallahaven and I'm going for maybe hard-hitter.

If not the Jewel of Fallhaven (which is currently the second best necklace for almost any build as it gives you an extra attack with 4/5Ap weapons - the best being Marrowtaint), then consider acquiring Necklace of the Protector (+2 Damage Reduction, +5hp), which would be otherwise most beneficial!
In my honest opinion, Necklace of the Protector is the third best necklace in the entire game, as it is now.

That'll make it easier for you to determine what gear you'll want for your character!

I would suggest not choosing Hard Hit at the present stage, seeing as it is more beneficial for you to simply select +1 dmg on two level-ups. Instead, take Combat Speed the coming two levels. That'll give you an extra attack per round with 4AP weapons, and, with JoF, an extra with 5AP weapons. You won't regret it!
