If there is a constant number of people who keep posting about this problem that means that there is a bigger number of players that simply quit playing the game without visiting the forum.

Of course you may consider that behavior whack. But if you want many people to enjoy this game, there should be a warning or a hint about how to escape that situation. Maybe the guy that asks the player to come to Blackwater waits next to the bed and tells you to go grinding. Or there is a diary left by a former visitor that has records about how he managed to escape:

"I am stuck here for two weeks now. I keep fighting the XYZ monsters in order to improve my fighting skills / get some potions that will help me to make my way down."

Or there could be some monsters that drop meat. Maybe the easiest way.

People need to play smarter. If they are struggling to make it up the mountain then chances are they aren't strong enough to be there and should turn back.
No "hand holding"!

Why not? What's the damage?

Many players will turn away from the game as they are stuck there with no idea how to escape and no alternative save games to fall back to. And I don't think players quitting for that reason are a good thing.

Buddy, I feel your pain. You are absolutely right in your criticism about being stranded in the mountain, BUT you also have to concede that as advertised, it is a game "under construction/unfinished". There will be (and are) loose ends, unfinished quests and yes also situations where you will paint yourself into a corner, with no immediate way out.

The loss is competitive balance. RPGs are supposed to be strategic and challenging.

He's not saying block it off and prevent access till certain requirements are met. You can still choose to go that way if you want to at level 1 or whenever. Just put up a sign so that people will know whether or not they want to go that way.

OR, make it so we can target a monster before we reach them and preview stats that way. The whole "unable to tell how strong a monster is until we're already fighting it" thing just doesn't work. Even in the real world you can generally get an idea of how dangerous a critter is by the size of it's teeth/claws or by the bright colors warning of toxins etc..

Hi folks,

I would say that it's too easy to get there early, not much challenge, just a trap.

Well equiped and with a good strategy (not based on save and try till you have a better roll) you can climb a step, another, when you think it's time to reach the base to use your well earned money, there is just the cabin with a bed, tempting, then more steps to find out you can't even buy a piece of bread, far too late to come back without to be knocked out to the cabin and have to drop a bunch of potions.
Not challenging at all, just boring. The right time to reroll or push for a better balanced gameplay.

My advice is to remove the trap (the bed in the cabin), so that you can buil a better climbing strategy elsewhere without a mandatory drop session (I would prefer a scarification as a sanction than the boredom of sensless droping).

Thank you for this promising game

edit: well, removing the bed seems to avoid a place to gain levels (there is more rewarding places without bed elsewhere but it's not a reason to break the game for other people) so I also vote for an advice before to reach the bed (like before the amber and purple teleporters crystals)

I started up the mountain halfway to level 16 and am currently standing in front of Harlenn at 8652 of 14080 needed experience points. The only healing I used the entire trip up was the Regeneration skill, 5 things of Meat, and 2 Minor vials of Health.

Here's the stats and equipment I had at the end of my journey:
HP:47 EXP:76852 Gold:3376
AP:2 AC:155% AD: 17-23 BC: 25%
Skills: Weapon Accuracy (1), Combat Speed (1), Increased Fortitude (1), Regeneration (1)
Equipment: Fine Green Hat, Superior Hard Leather Armour, Jewel of Fallhaven, Crude Wooden Buckler, Snakeskin Boots, Leather Gloves of Attack, Villain's Ring x2

Basically I'm saying if I can make it up fighting my butt off and reloading saves, then there should be no sympathy, especially since I could most likely make it back down the mountain in the same manner. If anything, I should be the one complaining about difficulty levels, not the level 25 adventurer.

Edit Dunno about the OP, but I just realized I could purposely suicide and wake up in my bed way down in Mikhails house and still be 7K Exp ahead of where I started. Not saying I will, just good to know ;)
Edit 2 Just made it back down to Primm with 88643 Exp amd 4099 Gold. So it can totally be done before level 20 as long as you're prepared for it.
