All these ripoffs are in blatant violation of the GPL. The largest issue is that any modification of the source code has to be released to the public, which to my knowledge none of the ripoffs have released any modified source code. The second largest issue is that they have to acknowledge the original authors, which all of them seem to not do by removing the "About" section. Not to mention the copyright theft which is a different matter all together.

The great thing about the GPL is that it allows information to be free (as in free speech, not free beer). We provide this project completely for free (even though there are costs associated with it) and yet there are these other people who only wish to profit from our work and contributing none of their own to the project. To me that is the single most frustrating thing that happens with open source software and licenses such as the GPL.

We are exploring all our options before any action is taken. Thank you for reporting these ripoffs as well as any others that may come up.

Yes these ripoffs make me mad. I know you guys are working your butts off on the game, and I've tried to contribute as well via the forums. These ripoffs offend me because it's blatant theft of your guys hard work.

So i was browsing samsung apps the other day and came across a game made by "zhu que" called hero legend. It is the EXACT same map as andors trail as you can see from the screenshots taken. Comments?

Yeah, it is really unfortunate, but this is somewhat common. Take a look at the link, we might already know about that one, the name sounds familar.

There seems to be nothing changed except for the permissions

Good job spotting it while it is rated in the "above 10 downloads" category only.
This size of 17MB is normal for ripoffs, and our dev/debug builds have the same size. We just use some smart-fu to reduce this size before release to GPlay.
Two facts are interesting about this one:
- Version is 0.7.2dev, meaning he certainly took the latest source available, which might be buggy/unstable/inconsistent.
- "Developer" also published a ripoff of another fine open-source android game "Replica Island". I suspect all of his publications are of that kind...
