See effects on monsters

Post by Pistos »

So I've gotten far enough in the game to have found an item that can supposedly put a Dazed effect on monsters. Unfortunately, I've decided this item is not worth it because:

1. There is no icon or any other indication that you have ever successfully Dazed a monster
2. Going by general gut feeling, it doesn't feel like the monsters ever suffer from the Dazed effect.

Do hit effects ever take place on monsters, or is this an unimplemented feature?

Okay, so I see you can click on the monster icon (upper left) to see the effect listed in the monster info. I think we can all agree this is bad UI design. :) Please make it visible during combat.

I agree, this should be visable during combat and hopefully that is in the works. Becaue they do work and they are fun!

I agree. It would enhance the player's experience if they could see immediately that they've successfully placed an actor condition on the enemy.

yeah, it's one of the most gratifying things in the game - especially when there is magic in the world & you can't use it.

don't get me wrong, i don't want the hero using magic.

(even though it's my favored class)

Yup. For all of "old timers", the introduction of weapons that applied actor conditions on its target was awesome revenge after having suffered for so long from them doing it to us. It would be so nice to "see" it happening to them.

The least we could do is include it in the combat log, both at infliction time, and when activated (if applicable, like for poisons).
An icon in the Combat UI would be nice too, but I also fear it could add a lot of clutter to the screen.

We could add a small icon below the monster icon that shows that some condition is active. Then if you touch the monster icon the condition shows in the monster info dialogue.

That would probably suffice, as much of the time, your gear would only have on condition to inflict, so you wouldn't have to check to know which one.

There is a lot of space towards the top of the screen, i think it would be easy to reduce the size of the NPC's HP bar at the top and be able to add in a space next to the NPC's sprite for status effects
