Better way for two handed style/specialization

Post by Playerthree »

Hello!
been playing for awhile and first time posting.
currently it seems that using two handed weapons is just worthless especially compared to the other fighting styles/ specialization because of the ridiculously high AP cost a simple way I see to make it more worthwhile to be a change in two handed style/specialist bonuses as follows:

1: changing the fighting style bonuses from the current (0.7.1) bonuses of +30% damage to a reduction of 1 AP per attack per level with a +2-4 damage, to me it just makes MUCH more sense that as you become more proficient with the weapon it become easier to use and you can do more damage.

2:the specialization for two handed weapons should be +15% to attack chance with two handed weapons (just strait up not of original AC of weapon so that you eliminate the rounding issues) with either an AP reduction of 2 or an AP reduction of 1 with an additional +4-6 to base damage
AND
3: the rescued miner/weapon trainers bonuses of +30% base damage and block chance with +10% critical of item base seem incredibly low for what you have to pay for it/ go through to get it for free. As well as the increase being based off the weapon you use, instead I feel it should just be +2-4 damage +10% BC and +5 crit skill per level. (again this removes the rounding issues that kinda make the first and third levels fairly pointless
with the AP reduction It seems to me to make being a two handed weapon wielder roughly on par with a dual wielder and balances the game play to the point of making a two handed character as worth playing as a dual wielder.

I think the dual wielder is perfect btw(aside from the rounding issues) and have some ideas for sword and board improvement but that is for a different post coming shortly :)

Firstly, welcome to the forum! :-)
Secondly, adressing your suggestion:
The reduction in AP as you suggest would be too great. A total of -4 AP cost would be way too OP, but I support the idea that the Spec. should provide a -1 ap cost!
The damage should not be fixed for one reason; The weapon structures are being revised; change in damage and such. Therefore, the percentual damage bonus will be more potent in the future, and don't forget that there will be new (and perhaps more powerful) items coming!
No fixed bonuses should ever be given to the combat style traits. Later on, it will prove to be a major setback.

I'll return later being more constructive in my criticism as this is as thorough as I get on my phone :-)

Yes, welcome to forum, and great suggestions. The game certainly needs more weapon/attack balancing to make more viable options, and I believe that is being worked on. But your suggestion to change the proficiency is a good one, because the rounding is an issue and I too think the bonus could be slightly higher.
