Is this a clue?

Up to now I'd thought that the game was neutral as far as "The Shadow" was concerned and it was up to the player to make the choice of being pro or anti shadow or just killing whatever was available when an opportunity presented itself with no thoughts on the Shadow either way.

My first character Boggwart, (now retired) didn't really give it much thought, my next two characters, Schmiiirc and S'not Sinistral are both anti-shadow as much as can be, and so to balance it up I have a new character, Shady Lady, who embraces the Shadow at every opportunity.

More in spoiler :-
Schmiiirc is the most advanced of my characters at level 49 and has just completed the Dark Protector quest. In that quest, (according to the directory) if I allow Ulirfendor to give me the blessing of the Shadow he gets 15000 exp, if he refuses the blessing he gets 35000 exp.
Is this a hint/clue that it's better to be anti-Shadow?

The higher XP is just compensation for not getting the blessing.

Picking a side currently has very little effect. That will change as more of the game is filled out, but detailed plans don't yet exist.

I hadn't thought of that, having had the Blessing from Talion which turned out to be fairly worthless, fun for a short while, but that's all. Maybe that should be provided in Potion form to be used as and when required.

Still, I got a nifty titfer out of it.

I'm not really bothered about pro or anti-Shadow, I just thought it might make decision making easier if I chose one way or the other, I think I'll let plain old avarice decide in future.

I think you think about the false blessing.
You learn a skill for destroing the helmet.
Talion's blessings are for defeating the lich.

Unlike Talion's blessings, Urlifendor's is a permanent skill.

You live and learn. Maybe next time then, (but he was asking for it!). :D
