Dual wield

In the search for some diversity with my different characters I'm looking at investing Skill Points in Dual Wield.

I can see that I'll need two levels for it to be effective, but I'm struggling to see any benefits beyond being able to use two different weapons with different attributes.

The way I see it I'll only get the same number of swings per round and I miss out on the defensive stats of having a shield.

............and how does it actually work in game play? Alternate hits with each weapon?

You get the benefits of both weapons, including any boost to those from, for example, proficiency skills. So you lose the BC of a shield, but gain the AC and AD of a second weapon. The stats of the two weapons are simply added for each attack.

It sounds better when you put it like that!

The intended recipient already has two levels of *Dodge" so that will help compensate for the loss of shield.

Cheers.

just as an aside, i like the Fencing Blade with a dual wield build.
a nice BC bonus on your off hand in weapon-form...

e.g. - Rapier of Lifesteal & Fencing Blade
(with one handed weapon proficiency)

at higher level this boon becomes negligible,
but when you get strong enough - most small tweaks feel that way.

The fencing blade is a nice item, I've used it at times on a couple of characters.

I don't see me ever finding a RoL: I can't bear the thought of sitting outside the Kazaul Cave endlessly waiting for it to re-spawn, but I might get lucky sometime.

I have a couple of ideas to try for pairings, BSS & DoSP - BW Dagger X 2 - or even forget the BC altogether and go for BW Sword X 2.

Me too! BC seems to take a backseat to AD and AC a lot

ahhh... the Chaosreaper!
some weapons are just fun to wield, regardless of their [min/max] ability...

you might not get the best stats,
but to me - it's fun to inflict status effects.

beyond that, i had a "Vampire Build"

stuff like Dual Wielding the RoL & Fencing Blade (both rapiers)
with Regeneration & Corpse Eater, naturally...

i chose to wear the Gloves of Life Force (GoLF)
only because they fit the build, in my mind.
it made it fun for me on another level.

(ICYMI) there are "statistically" better gloves for my build,
i just chose not to use them.

someone even asked me why those gloves, on that build?
i told them: "for general elegance, naturally!"

What about RoLF and BoD for vampire build?
