While hunting for Rols, I thought about probability:
If one kill means x% to get one, how many are there to be killed to get a Rols in 50%?
Maybe after 5000?
Hm, today I tried to find out using excel, and really am a bit demoralized. It is even worse than I had imagined :shock:
If probability is 1:10 then
10% of players will get it in 1 kill
19% of players will get it in 2 kills
65% of players will get it in 10 kills
88% of players will get it in 20 kills
99,5% of players will get it in 50 kills

But that would be too easy. Probability is 1:10,000, so:
0.01% of players will get it in 1 kill
0.1% of players will get it in 10 kills
1% of players will get it in 100 kills
9,5% of players will get it in 1,000 kills
18% of players will get it in 2,000 kills
39% of players will get it in 5,000 kills
63% of players will get it in 10,000 kills
86% of players will get it in 20,000 kills
99,3% of players will get it in 50,000 kills

But we do not trust statistics, do we? :D

just got my first RoLS! after 3965 masters and 3372 trainers i started reloading to speed up the killing since the xp at lvl 50 in the cave is shit. did that for about 6-8h. got into a position where i started just next to 2 masters when i loaded the game, killing them and reloading took me about 4-5 seconds, doing that for 7h is around 5k more kills. factoring in breaks and what not i'd say i killed 7,5-8k masters and 3.3k trainers to get my ring. im certainly not one of the lycky ones! now i just need another one :D

lol i just realized i made a mistake in my calculations, 7h and 5 seconds each reload is 5040 reloads. 5040 reloads with 2 kills each is 10,080 kills in 7h with konstant reloading, not factoring in breaks and small pauses from the tedious work constant reloading is.

so im guessing the kills for my first RoLS is probably around 10-11k masters and 3,3k trainers.

just got my second one after about 2-3h reloading :)

I gave up after killing nearly 5500 shadow gargoyles combined and cheated.
I downloaded the source code, modified the chance to 100%, recompiled and got myself 2 RoLS and re-installed the original AT
Turned out I downloaded the source for 0.7.2 so my new save game wasn't compatible anymore. To make sure I wont have any problems in the future I got the source for 0.7.1 and redid my cheat. Now it's working fine.

I GOT IT!! MY RING!!!!

And unbelievable! not only 1 ring, I got 2 RolS in one combat !!! Yes: TWO!!

I still don't trust mine eyes.

While killing endless amounts of Gargoyle Guys, I got bored and tried several things, like leaving some stones at the altar, or trying to catch them in a set of 3 or 4.
And then, when I just killed a group of 3, there it was: 2 RolS!!

But ok, I was in that cave for many levels, and 15117 Gargoyle Guys had to be killed, so I think I might have earned it… :mrgreen:

hm, I got a bit suspicious – could it really be 2 RolS in 1 combat? With this nasty propability?

So I walked through the source code and found some interesting thing indeed:
For items with a low drop rate (that means legendary items) the drop_rate and drop_amount increases when fighting several attackers in a single combat!! :shock:

The code is not obvious, but this is what it does:

- If drop rate is less than 1:100 then the drop rate will be multiplied with 0.14 * 10^(numberOfAttackers - 1)
That means:
2 attackers: multiplies drop rate with 1.4,
3 attackers: multiplies drop rate with 14,
4 attackers: multiplies drop rate with 140,
5 attackers: (is that possible?) with 1400

- And even more important: you get more items with more attackers:
drop amount = (numberOfAttackers – 1)

These code lines look rather harmless and are placed among other complex caclulations. But they increases propability, so now I understand why I got 2 legendary items in a single combat!

Looks like a back door for quick getting legendary items! Sorry that now it is revealed :twisted:
From now on I know how to get my RolS, when starting a new character …

(And now 2 hours sleep and then go to office, o dear, it will be a hard day)

Where did you see that code ?
I took a quick look, walked through the dropped item calculations, and saw no such thing...

I agree, that this isn't true. I think your 2 legendary in one combat run was code and luck working in your favor. For.. when I farm I do that where I'm attacking 4 or 5 creatures around me at once for cleave. And my statistics haven't changed at all from me killing them 1 on 1 in farming runs. And where in the code did you find it, and how did you get the answer that is what that is supposed to mean or you think it does?
