I think we need some refine shop/skill to refine equip
Refine add :
damage and hit chance on weapon
block chance on armor
and increase effect of accessories
starting at +0 to +1 with 80% chance success rate and decrease 10% for each time success
Let say you have a weapon like this
XWeapon
Atk chance 20%
Damage 5 - 7
Crit 10% 2x
And if you refine it will be
XWeapon+6
Atk chance 35%
Damage 11 - 13
Crit 22% 2.6x
And
XShirt
Block chance 10%
DR 1
to be
XShirt+9
Block chance 42%
DR 3
with cosequence like this
1 - 3 > -1 if failed
4 - 6 > -2 if failed
7 - 9 > broken if failed

Re: Refine?
I like the idea. But I think the effects are too strong.
My proposal: Crafting Skills.
Woodworking for shields
Smith for weapons
Armorer for heavy armor
Weaving for light armor
Alchemy with alternative skills for potion making (Feygard) or bone meal recipes if you follow the shadow.
Every craft needs a place like a workshop, smithy, laboratory etc. to be performed. Plus you have to buy resources (and or mine / collect them).
The question is if this adds anything to the game that the players want and enjoy. I think it is not something you immediately think of when playing an RPG, but it improves character building and the role playing aspect. Most Games with a focus on role playing have crafting skills implemented.

Re: Refine?
I think it sounds too much like Zenonia, which seems to be popular, but I tried one of them and this game is way better.

Re: Refine?
Not a bad idea by any stretch of the imagination, but I have a feeling that Oskar is looking for something that deals with less combat-oriented skills/additions to the game. Not that he would ignore these, but I have a super-feeling that the "heartstone" quest will end up being the refining option. I.E. Heartstone will let you upgrade your weapons/armor later in the game.

Re: Refine?
So, I decided to look up old topic(s) that got implimented [in some fasion] 0.6.11. Good ideas here. I'm still figuring out what gear can be upgraded in Remgard [depending on quest choice(s)] Anyway, congrats your idea has seen light

Re: Refine?
I like it. how about instead of lowering success rate...more resources are needed for each refinement. Then it will work the same way as leveling your character only you are essentially leveling your weapon the same way. And as for the resource..either gold or garbage..stones, ruby, ect

Re: Refine?
Good idea, but could be a real mess in balancing issues...if you are able to make your items too strong, the game won't be challenging any more. But atm, something like this is missing.

Re: Refine?
+1great idea
I really like this idea, though the stats proposed are way too high. Would be cool if something like this were implemented, and heartstone would be a great way to do it.

Re: Refine?
I like the idea of refine, but I like to see it in other way. IMO this young person does not have the time or opportunity to learn skills of master smith, etc. So how about something like this:
-here are some master smiths around the world and one them is specialiced for one type of item only.
-This unique mastersmit who is only one who can refine swords offers his servises on you only..... after some quest
-after completed quest there are some possible upgreadable swords here, but you need to bring needed ingrediend and the cost of refining those sword is something like:
--- +5% of all stats of the weapon = swords bace price *5,
---+10% = price*20,
---+15% = price * 80,
---+20% = price * 320, etc
And of cource.. you can refine item just one time.

Re: Refine?
I like this idea very much. The only thing I would change is the 1 time only because it serves as a great gold sink. If or when high level quests or areas become available, this will become a useful side quest to aid. I also like in particular that unlimited growth on an item syncs well with the new game + ideaSarumar wrote:I like the idea of refine, but I like to see it in other way.
