High-level Bosses drops Scroll of Town Portal?

Post by rakenopo »

Hi, new guy here, just found out Andor's Trail last week. :p

I've lurked a bit, and it seems the idea of Fast Travel is considered Blasphemy by the majority, so how about high-level bosses drops a Scroll of Town Portal? The Scroll that will teleports you into the Front Door of the latest Tavern you slept. It's quite a norm in classic RPGs, no merchants will sell it so it would be really limited(unless you cheat), and it would be really helpful to use if the developer plans to add more Blackwater-Style Pitch Black dungeons, especially that Kazaul Shrine. I'm trapped for half an hour just trying to enter and exit. eugh.

so yeah, that's all, peaace. :D

It would be very possible to implement such a feature, but having it available only as boss drops would not make it very attractive. Having an item (say legendary) that would provide such a feature (a gem or something) would make it something very worth hunting for, given that it is not consumable and with a CD of 3 minutes (30 rounds).
A consumable item wouldn't be used, especially not when limited and not providing an absolute benefit.
Implementing an Escape Rope for dungeons would be a much more needed feature.

It is a nice idea though :-)

EDIT: Oh, and a warm welcome to the community! :-D

Touché! However, completely beside the point :P
It would be more welcomed to end up at a tavern without losing the xp for it. But, as I see it, the distances lessen in time perception the higher your level, so it's not a real priority at this stage.
It should, however, be considered to implement the function (or a similar one, such as the Blackwater-option) in the game later on, when the game reaches its end-stage (assuming the map will be quite extensive).

A similar function could be unlocking quick routes that enables you to skip some time-consuming areas (being a one-way function, much like BW), so that you can make a quick return. Or something similar to the concept. Being able to go from town to town would be far too comfortable and take away an important adventure-aspect of the game.

Though, I am aware that this point had been debated before.
