I don't know if there's a reason to wait, I mean personally I'd like a double XP mode so I can go through the story with less grinding.

There has to be a penalty associated with that though. If there's no penalty then that would be the same as 20 levels of QL for free. Maybe some skills are not available, or skills are capped?

More XP (150%), more gold (150%), higher bonus on level ups (10AC, 2AD, 7BC, 10HP), no skills at all, no L&E items, no achievements (when, or if, we do these).
All in all, a dumbed down version of AT.

I think no skills at all is a little harsh. Could leave a few basic ones, such as WA, HH, Dodge, and cap them. Cap IF and Re at 1. Leave some not so useful ones, such as Merchant, uncapped. Remove all the others.

Edit: More XP, but not more gold. Reduce the level up bonuses from your suggestion. Leave merchant and Treasure hunter uncapped. The player can get more gold, and lower prices, that way. I think removing skills altogether would really detract from the playability of the game.

Well, if the point of an easy mode is to fly through the content (mainly, quests and dialogues), skills are superfluous in themselves. Just need to make sure that the player can grow strong enough to balance this.
The 4 base stats, plus equipment choice, give enough RP. After all, AT was already great before skills were introduced. Skills just add more depth to the gameplay and customization apsects. Giving more gold serves the same purpose as giving more XP: prevent grinding as a necessity.
A level of IF from the start (not shown, but active since level 1) can be a good addition too.

IMHO, the easy mode could enable players to do a first playthrough without worrying about their build. If they like it, they can start a new character in normal mode and discover the real depth of AT.

Well, we could have an easy mode, an intermediate mode, and the full blown mode. That's a lot more play testing to make sure they are balanced right though :|

That sounds great!

Well it's not really about balancing but about the purposes of each mode.

Easy mode would be for people like me who don't have as much patience as others.

Normal would be the full RPG experience.

Insane would have stronger monsters, so battles would take more time and wear you out. Battle emphasized the most.

Although I advocate boosting stats for Easy mode, we shouldn't decrease stats for Insane mode as that would mess with people's builds.

Insane mode would roll a D200 instead of a D100 for all player moves, 1 skill point every 5 levels.
Much more chances to fail everything,.
