I decided to create my own version of Andor's Trail. Find out more...
https://github.com/jmlucas31070/jasias-quest

I got a little bored and decided to create an area for Andor's Trail.
It can be found above, on the ozzy_dark_dwarf branch.

Includes 3 new quests, and 16 new maps.

Sunny make's her first appearance. Don't tell Jasia.

If I'm correct, this is a total mod of AT, with the same engine, but different storyline, characters and maps.
Can't wait to see how it turns out, as long as you comply with the GPL :ugeek:

If you need help with the technical side, get in touch.

Welcome to the forums.

You can import individual 32x32 tiles or other tilesets.
Then just set the tiles like you would on a map and save the image.
Perfect tilesets.
interested in seeing these!

(and a much belated welcome to the boards)

It will stay as free and open as Andor's Trail. I love the code. BTW.
The first set of maps are uploaded and exits seem to work now.
I've got the castle items/mobs done with ATCS. Great work with that one too.
As soon as I have all the island items/mobs made I'll add everything at once.

The tilesets were created by python script, that is why they look that way.
The map was ripped from Stendhal game. As will many more.
Not sure if there is a way to clean that up, I'll delve back into the code.
I didn't want to add all the Stendhal tilesets, or maps. Just a few that will work.

As far as the code goes, I'll have to change much of that for my storyline to work.
Only because much of the look and feel of the world is in the code.
Notice Swimable and Shipable layers and the new equip slots.
Not to mention, in my game, once you find Sunny the real fun begins.
I will stick to your approach on the read/write. AT savegames will work. lol
Still trying to figure out the skills and whether they will work correctly.
Other than that, you could say "same engine" :)

That's an ambitious to-do list. Good luck

It's an easy game right now, nothing to kill and nothing to do. lol
Though if you find any more map exit errors, let me know.
Still working through the NPC conversations in the castle.
Then I have to do the rest of the island. Patience.

I am more interested in what people think of the ozzy_dark_dwarf quest.
It has a finality to it, and a chance to frighten Sunny off.
One thing that really pissed me off in Andor's Trail was I wasn't allowed to kill Tinlyn with his sheep.
Just an idea. lol
