When ever I try to pronounce Serpents hauberk it always comes out as I mixture of serpents halibut and serpents hammock.

It is the hardest thing to say in the game apart from names.

It's always amusing during the Developer Meetings when we talk about places in the game.... sometimes the names don't register in my head unless they are written down. =)

The way I say it in my head is how-burk.

Hawberk does it for me.

That's the nearest I can get without resorting to dictionary style phonetics - which I wouldn't know how to do anyway.

Ho-burk.

In English, I've only ever heard it pronounced

haw'-bərk

I assume it was borrowed from another language (French?) with a different pronunciation/spelling. E.g. in French the "au" would be more like a long O in English.

It's a bit of a mongrel, like so many words in the English language.

Haw-burk for me too. But, as with many words, English and American (and other) pronunciations probably vary.
