smoother target switching?

smoother target switching?
( this is not critical ) but I was wondering if instead of long pressing to switch targets, if one could simply change direction of attack by pressing the directional pad... Say you are surrounded, press up to attack north, down to attack south ect. ect... I have no problem with the current system until the combat dialogue gets in the way when I switch to a northbound target... I have to press the dialogue to temporarily remove it from view, and then I can long press the target...
