Character development help

Post by Nagash »

Hi all,

I'm brand new here having discovered Andor's Trail only recently and loving it. I would like to have some advise on my character development (skills/bonus points/gear) if someone would be nice enough to help me.

My toon is now level 20 and I want to specialise him in 2 handed combat (not the most effective from what I've read but I like the idea :)). My stats are currently:
HP: 55
Atk chance 208%
Blk chance 17% (what should be an ok level?)
Damage 21-29 +39x3.125 (not sure what this all means)
Critical hit skill 39
Effective crit chance 22%
Crit multiplier 3.125

Gear:
Leather cap
Sturdy leather cuirass
Jewel of Fallhaven
Gleaming Claymore of Ruin
2x Polished ring of backstabbing
Troublemaker's glove
Vacor's boots of Attack

Skills:
More Critical x1
Better critical x1
Increased fortitude x2
Fighting style: Two handed weapon 1
My next skills targets are Fighting style 2h (2) and Increased fortitude(3), then Combat Speed (1 and 2) that will allow me to change my breastplate and have 3 attacks per round

Most of my developments points have been in more HP (the first 4 levels to have a base of 40), then equally atk% and +dmg but I wonder if I shouldn't put some points in blk%

Quest wise, I've cleared everything I could find (including the troll and 3 bandits, tough fellas) and am left with a quest sending me to blackwater and the fella to find in the green labyrinth. I have been farming a bit the lizards at the camp of the girl who dropped the Ruin sword as it is a great place to rest and get some 150ish xp mobs but it gets boring.
What I've noted:
- I doubt venturing further in the labyrinth is an option as I am far from the end of it and I have to drink a bonemeal potion after every fight and I suspect it gets tougher and tougher.
- The mobs in the dark cave on the way to blackwater seem to be on par with the lizards I've been farming so I suspeect once again that it'll get tougher further in and once I reach Blackwater.

What would you guys advise me to get gear wise (I have no idea if my gear is good, bad or average for my level of progression) and where to go to level? Did I miss a place to quest? Grinding seems to be the only option and although it's fast(ish), it's boring so I'll take advise on anything :) Thank you for your help.

welcome! you are going good.

but what do you mean by 2 handed combat? if you meant that you want to wield 2 weapons at the same time then this thread might be useful for you http://andorstrail.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4078
and if you meant 2 handed weapon then you may find something useful here http://andorstrail.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=4465

okey nice gears and you have chosen really good skills but take cleave also it will help to counter aggressive type enemies and it can be a gamechanger but first take the attackspeed as it will give you 2 AP.
and if you have IF then you dont need to invest lvlups in hp you can choose BC or AD.

as for quests it seems that you haven't discovered all areas(e.g.remgard) and completed all quests. and have you collected all oegyth crystals.
the secrets of shadow and light
be happy

Thank you for your feedback. By 2 handed combat I meant using 2 handed weapons.

Indeed, just looked for http://andorstrail.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1525 after reading your post and I seem to have missed this place. Now the game will be to find it :D

I'll investigate what these crystals are and what can be done with them (they seem to be required for a sword Xul'Viir (or whatever the name is) which seems to have nice stats for a 2 hander.

First thing first, I need to find my way out of the green maze, fun tims ahead :)
