As much as I do like the cleaner look, if the choice is either/or, then I prefer having the stats displayed in the list. Tapping the item to see its stats, then tapping again to close the item window would be cumbersome IMO.

Ideally, you don't need to close a window. The information for the highlighted item should appear in the window. Just click on a new item. If I have to choose one or the other, I guess I have to choose no item information on the item list. After all, what's the point?

My preference would be your suggested approach with a separate window (or frame) displaying the item stats as you select each item, all handled on a single screen. Perhaps the left pane lists inventory while the right pane displays the stats?

But if the stats are removed from the item list and no new functionality is added, then I believe the only way to see starts would be to open & close a window. That's what I think would be cumbersome & why I voted to keep the list as is, pending a third option to vote for.

Not a fan of having more windows to open and close.

Still thinking my first suggestion would be the best option.

Back to the original question asked by Oskar, why not have both and just have it be a preference?

To those still not understanding how it should look..
There's a window in a designated spot once you open inventory.. perhaps like suggested in the top right corner or something along these lines.
You select any item, the item description appears in the designated window.
Say you select a healing potion.
The box will show a picture of the item, how much it heals and finally, your available options with that item.. use, assign to quick slot, ect.
Now you select a quick strike dagger but you have nothing equipped.
A NEW BOX DOES NOT APPEAR
The box where the description for the healing potion is still there and it now has different information.
It now shows a picture of the quick strike dagger along with it's description.
Below it you will see how it effects your stats if you would equip it.
What you will see is something like this:
Damage: 0 --> 0
Accuracy: 0 --> 20
Block: 0 --> -20

Actor conditions: none

Then the options for the quick strike dagger.
Equip, ... whatever else
When you're done looking through your items, you just go back to the game. No extra unnecessary work, in fact you now don't have to close a window every time you select an item.

Since it's not all the stats anyway, I'd prefer the clean look.
