This is what I think too.
I mean don't get me wrong, the helmet is good, no doubt about it, especially in comparison with the other available stuff. But since all the other stuff is so lame, there simply MUST be something else in the next releases. This just cannot be all.

Same holds true for shields too, IMHO. ...and maybe even shoes.

That statement holds true for all items actually. You never know what Andor's Trail might have waiting around the next bend.

Generally speaking, yes you're right. However, I also think that there are certain groups of available equipment that are seriously underdeveloped in terms of diversity and possible top notch stuff.
For example, if you look at the weapons, rings, pendants and body armours, you'll find items such as the Rapier of Lifesteal, the ring of lesser shadow, the Marrowtaint and Serpent's hauberk, which are all pretty much amazing items - the sword and the ring more than the other stuff but still.
However, if you look into shoes, gloves, shields and helmets you don't find as nice objects but only Enhanced Combat Boots, Remgard Combat Shield, Gloves of Life Force and the Dark Protector, whereby the last is certainly the best in this row.

To cut a long thing short, if you look into the second list of available items, you wont find as nice items as in the first list, ergo: These item groups are underdeveloped, which in turn leaves room for improvement.

My two cents.

PS: I want a helmet made of diamond in which I can openly display my brain and still feel safe about it. Hannibal Lecter style.

So, I had been in the gargoyle cave for an eternity, searching in vain for that elusive ring when I got bored and decided to move away from the endless grinding for a bit and do some quests for a change (have gained 16 levels, still no ring).
I went to the cave east of Loneford, talked to Ulirfendor, slashed my way back and forth through the cave until I got the helmet and the heart.
I decided to keep the helmet, and perform the ritual myself.

Now to the matter. I am back in the comfort of the gargoyle cave, happily hacking gargoyle trainers and masters, and I get the impression that they are now respawning much quicker than before.
Is it just me or has this helmet some effect on the rate the monsters respawn?

I guess it could also be that my own perception of time is distorted after standing next to a bridge waiting for that irdegh to respawn, in order to get the worms out of my system, but I don't know..

Great Scott ! You have a problem with your flux capacitor !
Nothing in the game has any effect on monster respawn rate.... yet ?
