Drinking a Minor Potion of Speed

Drinking a Minor Potion of Speed shouldn't cost 5 AP. The battle would need to last for three to four more rounds after that to see any net benefit from it. I think it should be lowered to 2 or less. Thoughts?

quaff the potion before you engage the enemy?

changing equipment and drinking health potions cost 5 as well...
doubt that will change

but a little foresight can improve the benefits of the speed potion.

I never thought of that, I usually drink it before going into battle if I see a group of creatures that I know have a high HP or BC.

Yeah, but what if something just pops up at you. It seems as though a healing potion may take a minute to work (or 5 AP worth of time) but a potion of speed maybe should be a little faster? I don't know, I've found myself in hairy situations that I didn't anticipate that I wished I could drink a potion of speed, but once in battle it is totally useless.

if you have 12 AP & attacking costs 3AP - you still get two attacks [without the effects of the potion]

12 AP - potion
7 AP - attack
4 AP - attack
1 AP + MPoS AP bonus

i think it's fair. [speed is HUGE in this game]
remember, it's just a Minor Potion...
the next one will be more potent!

Also, unless you're using the extra AP to switch gear or take a healing potion, if you have 2 skills in Combat Speed, then the minor potion of speed only helps if you're using the quickstrike dagger paired with the jewel of fallhaven.

Normal AP (with 2 combat speed): 12

With Jewel of fallhaven:
The quickstrike dagger costs 2 AP, so if you take minor speed you'd get 14 AP for 7 strikes.

The next weapons (Flagstone's Pride, dagger of the shadow priests, steel sword) costs 3 AP. In this case, you'd get 4 strikes just from your 12AP, but using the speed potion would be 1 AP short of the 15 you'd need for a 5th strike.

Shadow of the slayer adds 2 more by having it equipped so that you have 14 AP, and it costs 6 (with the jewel), but taking a speed potion falls 2 short of the 18 you would need for a 3rd strike. If you're not wearing the jewel of fallhaven, then it would give you enough for a 2nd strike though.

It was much more powerful before the Combat Speed skills entered the picture in v0.6.10.
