Attack Damage Range Question

In over 9 months of playing, I cannot believe I never thought of this question or seen anybody have it. The weapons that have an AD that ranges from 1-X, how is it determined what the damage will be from round to round? Example, how is is it determined that a weapon with a range of 1-7, will have a hit of 7 versus a 1? Some sort of %?

I assume a standard dice roll like most RPGs... What else could it be?

Yah, but what I was also thinking about is having a weapon that has an off balanced percentage. So its range was 1-7, it could have a 70% chance of being 6=> as opposed to simply a dice roll. Thinking of this is what made me think if the original question.

Great Question Tek, I really wish i had a definite answer for you on this one.

I think the chances of getting a 6 would be the same as getting a one. its all just determined by luck (and a random # generator i beleive)

I am almost sure of this. What I was thinking of is a weapon that was not simply a dice rolled dependent weapon.
Maybe a new skill could increase the chance that the weapon gets more higher level damage like i described earlier.

Now please correct me if i am not understanding what u are getting at,

Like a weapon that wouldn't have a range of damage?

Like how the Blackwater Dagger has a AD of 1?

No! Say the weapon's range is 1-4. Getting an AD of the 1 or 4 is 25%. Now say that same weapon could be off balanced so that the chances of getting a 4 is now say 40%. This could be a skill.

That is a really cool idea. It would be like getting weapon profinincy in a type of weapon.

Like you could specialize in learning Swords and get a better chance of hitter the higher end of the damage range.

Really cool idea. I love it!

yes, "proficiency" is a good word as it works along side "accuracy".
