What I think is more of a problem and making thie road to Remgard hard is mobs spawning right in front of you directly after a kill. It killed me at least two times in the spider caves.
That is the only thing I legitmately HATE about this game.

Immediate respawns are EVIL.

Give us 2 rounds before starting the respawn counter...

I am about at same lvl, 0 bonemeal potions and only 1k money. What I am missing? There is no way I could make enough money to buy even 1000 potions without heavy grinding, and by then I would be lvl 40 already...
So, how are you doing that amount of money?! [...]
I had 1k bonemeal potions at lvl 14 and I still have way too much gold to know what to do with it all. Only things I can think of are running the snake caves a bunch to sell meat (that's always a good start), not buying stuff you don't need, and... yeah, that's about it. I've completed all the major quests except the Prim/BW stuff which means I was able to skip buying equipment that was only a small upgrade and just waited to buy the best-in-slot stuff. I never use potions or anything else like that and if I do run low on HP I just eat meat because I know I can easily get more. Once I move over to the gargoyle caves I'll switch to only using the health potions they drop and save all my meat for later.

To get thru to Remgard, I used the following strategy - once I could level up to get a build to kill Gornauds easily, even with Daved, I was ready for Remgard road - with AC at 293%, AD at 31-42, BC at 38%, DR at 5, with Shadow Regeneration and CE, it is enough to make the Remgard road a stroll in the park :)

@ duallifes, if it's money you need, grind the catacombs below langford church, very easy and plenty of drops to sell, they also drop reg health potions. Also snakecave, you can sell the meat or use then to heal instead of potion. If i need meat, i usually do a run of the cave, then kill the rabid dogs on the way to loneford, sleep in crossglen and repeat... 3 or 4 runs gives about 40 meat, give or take... potion droprate is lower, about 25 in 4 runs.

Good luck

i would still enjoy more difficulty,

but then again...

i don't really play these things "casually"

i take what's given to me and smash everything [someway - somehow]!!!
