Andor’s Trail Project Meeting #29
2013-06-02
Present: Oskar Wiksten(oskar.wiksten), Ian Haase(Ian), Tom Jobes(Tomcat), Stan Pawlowski (Meirerion)

1. Follow-up from last meeting:
Go over previous meetings TODO’s.

TODO: Oskar: Check if scrollable combat log is easily doable for this release (see meeting #28)
TODO: Oskar: look into whether we can move preferences & save to toolbox items.

2. Completed since the last meeting:
542 lines of dialogue for the Charwood area completed.
2 new major quests completed. New skills FTW.

Major reduction in savegame size (from ~83k to ~30k) by clever reordering of map content.

Ian: Updated guidelines for map alignment rules.
TODO: Ian: check with Scott on how to update the wiki page

Almost ready for a dev build of Elythara quest.

3. Things that are being worked on:
[A) Modifying dialogue with occupants of Remgard, prior to establishing access to Laeroth Manor.
B) Incrementally compiling a more clear than initially comprehensive guide to submitting created content for consideration of the development team to include in a future release, by under which we can categorize more specific and detailed information regarding guides for content type.
C) Open to requests, and awaiting follow up on review and editing current and pending dialogue that has not yet been released. ~ SCS]

Oskar: Placing new monsters on lodar* and charwood areas.
Oskar: Need to create droplists for new monsters
Oskar: Some more minor conversations are needed for new shops (and droplists for shop inventories)

4. Discussion of some forum threads/posts that people have found interesting, or want clarification on, or maybe a question answered:
Removing map screenshots when uninstalling game?
This is not a big issue, but would be nice to solve somehow. We currently have no way of removing the files when you uninstall.

5. Open Discussion:
Player character name in dialogue $playername
Yes, we can do that right now. $playername will be substituted for the player’s name.

Moving from Google Code Hosting? (because of the fact that they will stop providing download links)
Oskar & Scott : we should discuss & decide.

SCS: This may be a good opportunity to establish non-forum based content on its own "Andor’s Trail" site, containing all other related content to be considered for placement at the .org extension, since this is a not for profit, open source project.

SCS: Possibly more trivia than anything else, on June 6th it will be one year that the .org, .net, and .mobi domain extensions have been in place.
Nice!

6. What should we have ready for the next meeting?
Oskar: Finish the Lodar and Charwood quests into a playable version.
Oskar: Update Taskfreak with tasks that are required for v0.7.0. Also, add some tasks for the week after release (player survey of new features, telling people about our new version)

Ian: Updating wiki with map alignment rules (checking with Scott). Last touches on Elythara quest (monsters, droplists).

TODO: Content help needed that anyone in the community could help with:
We want to place random (lowlevel) loot in crates around the world. Someone could make a list of which of the tile images should be “lootable”. Check the map_*.png tilesets here: http://code.google.com/p/andors-trail/s ... 2Fdrawable . Once we know which tiles should contain loot, we’ll automate the process of adding it to the maps.
Create lists of items that we should use as random lowlevel loot. Gems, empty vials, that sort of stuff.
For this release, we have the option of displaying longer item descriptions. Write a short background description (one or two sentences) for the Ring of Lesser Shadow.
Write background description for the Rapier of lifesteal.
Write background description for the Elytharan redeemer.
Write background description for the Bonemeal potion.

Include “add another legendary item” as poll item in the next upcoming player poll.

Actually, I wasn't there, but looks like you guys have done LOTS more great stuff! Life got busy the last couple of weeks, but I hope to get those map chores done for Ian in the near future, as well as an example scroll.

GREAT JOB GUYS!! I'm seeing lots of progress.

What's the "Charwood area"? I've never heard of Charwood. Is it a town?

Does this mean that there will be a fourth legendary item?

Actually the .com site was created way back in January of 2011. The rest of the domains came along in June 2012 thanks to ctnbeh13.

I so can't wait for the next release! I'm getting bored. We don't even have Brimhaven or Brightport yet. You know it doesnt have to be perfect or completely finished for an update. Many games update every week as soon as they have even one new quest or new area finished (especially since it's been so long since the last update!) ;) ;) hint hint nudge nudge :-P
