After killing the guy who had stolen the book I went back to return it to it's original owner, but he wasnt there. I kept running around like some lost traveller without sucess. After a nights sleep (in real life, duh) he still wouldnt be there. I went back to Crossglen and rested after some farming in snake cave, and then went back to Fallhaven and he now was there. I finally completed the quest so it's no longer nagging me in my questbook.
