1) You entered the room (before activating the quest)
2) You went to activate the quest in town
3) You went back to the cave and discovered the blade and robber missing?
That is what happened. Once. But I restarted and couldn't reproduce it. (Grrrh, I thought I had a savefile with the broken state, but
apparantly not, and so cannot send it to you.)

Looks like it must have been a map error bug or something. I'm glad that we are unable to reproduce because that means it's not a huge problem and could have been a lil Hiccup in the system.
Thank you again for reporting this and I will be keeping an eye out for other adventurers who might have experienced this issue as well.
