Key of Luthor quest problem

After seeing Buccus, I visit Athemyr in the house just south of church. He is supposed to give me access to the catacombs after I bring him cooked meat. Problem is...I can't get him to say anything but, "walk with the shadow"...I cant open any other dialogue!!?? Its the main quest as far as I know...so can't really side-step it.... Pls help
