Upstairs in Remgard's town hall, there is a bunk room. A character named Maelf says "... isnt this place nice... and a fellow to exchange stories with". Does tthis go anywhere yet..?

It doesn't go anywhere. I'm not sure it was ever intended to, but making it go somewhere is an interesting idea
