Boss drop vs shop items

Sorry if this has been posted already (did look through a few pages here and through Pyrizzle's 'Already suggested Ideas!' post) or is a bad idea for whatever reason.

I've looked at my equipment loadout at various times and its mostly all store-bought items, rather than monster drops. To clarify, quest-driven boss encounters (even early ones) do net some shiny items

Random early access dungeons/caves such as the wolf/dog cave and the ooze cave do feature bosses, aren't trivial for new characters, and mete out rewards that are ... not good (Wolfpack's animal hide  ? Bloodletter?). Drops do start getting nicer later on ...

However, some seriously powerful items can just be bought even in beginner-friendly areas (Crossglen, Fallhaven), and not for much gold at that.

A bit more balance between the two (early drops and items at beginner town stores), particularly at lower levels, would be nice, I think.

I agree, it would be good to rebalance a few key items. I believe that some of may be waiting on a revamp of the combat system, so that it would be clearer what is overpowered and what is not.

I would love to see more Long Swords added.... with a bit more balance to how much damage they can accomplish overall. It seems that those you can get as "Rare" drops really aren't that much better than those you can just outright pick up for $$$$.
