Condition question.

Chaotic grip (amongst others) gives a -1 DR, possibly as much as X 7, resulting in a minus figure in a players stats if their starting point is less than 7.

Is there a difference to damage caused when DR is a minus figure compared to 0 DR?

Just to be clear, if DR is 4 and you're hit for 4 the damage is 0. If DR is -2 and you're hit for 4 is the damage -4 or -6, (or even something else)?

Without checking the code (or waiting for Zukero to weigh in on this) I can't be sure, but I would be surprised if your DR could ever go negative.

I'm surprised too but quickly looking at the code, it looks like you can have a negative Dr resulting in a - 6 damage in your example.

It definitely goes negative if it's starting figure is less than the effect of the condition: in the same way as Crits are shown as low as -50 with BW gear equipped.

How do you get -6 damage? Surely it's +6 damage. Final_damage=damage-DR, so if DR is negative, it adds to the damage.

Whatever, I'm not sure this is desirable

I'd have to say that technically (mathematically?) you're probably correct, it is 6 damage, but I understood Zukero to be saying that a hit for 4 with -2DR is -6 hit points. Same result in the end, it still hurts just as much.

Oh. I see. +6 damage = -6 HP.

I still think it's undesirable. A "resistance" should not be able to go below zero.

I agree, other games are the same.

Why shouldn't it go negative? That is part of what makes those iqhan chaos baddies so fun/tough to take on. It is also why I love the chaosreaper, which does chaotic grip x5. So, if I hit a baddie with only 1 DR, then I figure that gives me an automatic 4 more dmg.
