Just questions :)

So this community has been around for a while. I think around 10 years if im not mistaken...?
How do guys still manage to keep the game running?
I remember reading somewhere that the original creator left and this is taken up by people to work on in their spare time... Dunno if thats true.

How do you guys work? Even if this is more like a hobby, would you pass the baton on to someone new in the future?

Im just curious cuz AT is an amazing game. And its so massive with hours of work gone into storylines and such.
Id love to see this still run past 5 decades if possible 😅
(Wishful thinking, perhaps?)

I am not a developer, so people would not like if I answered the question.

You can see some answers from the developers to similar development questions on the second page of viewtopic.php?t=7653&start=10.

You can read the old design outline at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BwW ... lIp5g/edit. Unfortunately that is hosted by google, a spyware company. I guess I could copy and paste all the words into a forum post if people are interested.

acridpot,

Don't worry about it, we aren't going anywhere. No baton passing will be necessary.

No need to worry, the whole reason behind creating the forums way back then, and then later the Discord, was because I had tried to create a couple of RPG games on my own and never finished them. When I first played Andor's Trail it was obvious to me it was special, and I didn't want it to fade into another promising but unfinished game.
I reached out to Oskar and explained that IMHO the only way to ensure the game actually gets finished is to have the community help from the start and thankfully the community has really stepped up over the years and continued the game. There was a long period of downtime with no updates but we were able to sustain, and now we have a small but dedicated group of people like Antison who continually help out with the continued releases.

I think we are able to stick around so long because we try and be very open to anyone who wishes to help out in whatever capacity they can.

There are multiple open-source projects that manage to survive. Andor's Trail is one of those projects. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_and_ ... e_software and https://writefreesoftware.org/learn. You might use open-source software on your computer without knowing it. For example, portions of the android operating system are open-source.

You can also see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commons-b ... n#Examples.

Hmm... Okay, so I have no knowledge in reference to coding.
How could I help with AT in such a case?

Building quests and maps requires no coding skills

No. Using our proprietary Andor's Trail Content Studio application

You might look here. It's a bit out of date but shows very good the different aspects where/how one could help developing:
