Hi, I decided to side with the guys on top of the mountain for better access to that legendary item. Now, I'm able to get Blackwater gear... but the blood issue it causes seems to make using this gear an awful decision...
Am I missing something? Can this stuff be cleansed? It's nice looking gear if not for the Blackwater Misery.

Re: Blackwater Gear
great question...nobody used that gear until dual wielding came about.....now they get all the blackwater gear they can, and wield two of the blackwater daggers and it turns out to be a pretty nice "set".

There's no removing of the Blackwater curse, but there's good news.

Re: Blackwater Gear
Interesting, it looked like such a huge penalty, but perhaps it balances out? Right now I'm using the sword I won from the prison.
I've been running sword/shield just for leveling. I haven't specialized yet. I can't decide if I should focus on dual wield, or stay Sword/Shield.

Re: Blackwater Gear
It does balance out really nice when you use the Armor, Helmet, and 2 Daggers at once (With Duel Wielding skill maxed out for the biggest stat bonus)
The only things that i don't use from the set are the rings.... they are not that great.
The Blackwater Status effect will never go away as long as you are still using a piece of Blackwater gear, but the nice thing about Blackwater Misery is that it doesn't stack (So you'll only get one)

Re: Blackwater Gear
Fighting Style: Dual Wield
Specialization: Dual Wield
Dagger Proficiency
Light Armor Proficiency
Those 4 skills make the BW set quite nice.
Blackwater Poisoned Dagger (x2)
Blackwater Leather Armour
Blackwater Leather Cap
Combined with Jewel of Fallhaven OR Marrowtaint, (2) in Combat Speed, and using either Villain's Ring or Ring of Lesser Shadow.
Other items you could take for this set to be very effective would be:
Remgard Combat Helmet OR Dark Protector
Gloves are... whatever you feel like although I'd probably choose Fine Snakeskin Gloves or possibly Gloves of the Guardian
Enhanced Combat Boots
Specialization: Dual Wield
Dagger Proficiency
Light Armor Proficiency

Re: Blackwater Gear
The Blackwater Dagger is also a good option, some players find the extra BC to be better than being able to poison their enemies...fiernaq wrote:Fighting Style: Dual Wield

Re: Blackwater Gear
Yup. Could easily do that too although the difference basically boils down to which stat you're trying to stack. Poison is just a benefit that one of them has that the other doesn't.
The following formulas are just Base + (Base * modifier from Spec: Dual Wield) + (Base * modifier from Dagger Pro)
Blackwater Dagger Original: 40% AC, 5% BC
AC: 40 + (40 * 50%) + (40 * 90%) = 96% AC
BC: 5 + (5 * 50%) + ( 5 * 90%) = 12% BC
Total = 108 stats
Blackwater Poisoned Dagger Original: 45% AC
AC: 45 + (45 * 50%) + (45 * 90%) = 108% AC
50% chance on hit to cause 1x Weak Poison for 5 rounds
Total = 108 stats + chance of poison

Re: Blackwater Gear
Let's revive an oldy...
Do any of you 2nd generation players have a Blackwater build?
Prior to skills, I never considered this gear. But after skills, I quickly realized how great that this gear set can be.
Level 48 (see stats in my signature) is my favorite build. It has level 3 "dagger proficiency", level 2 of "Fighting style: Dual Wield", and "Specialization: dual wield". Among others.
I just wish the the gear set could be completed. There are no gloves or boots to complete the set.

Re: Blackwater Gear
I have thought about dual wielding the poison daggers, but that's about it. I personally don't like sets, because I want to be able to choose from as wide a selection of gear as possible to balance my stats the way I want. I'm a very technical player though, and not everyone wants to micro-balance everything the way I do
I think the BW set is really good at intermediate levels. I like the idea of completing the set, if it's only available at a higher level. Throwing out an idea, we put a new NPC in Remgard that's a traveler that was looking to make some money trading armor. He was in BW settlement trading some goods, and had heard Remgard was famous for it's quality armor. So he decided to buy a couple of pieces of BW armor and sell them when he was next in Remgard. Now he's in Remgard nobody wants them though, because of some nasty negative effects they have on the wearer. He has gloves and boots, and if you are interested he'll sell them at knock down prices, just to cut his losses. Anyone that has the set can then boost it up, and anyone that doesn't (and picked the right side at BWM) could buy them and return to BW settlement to get the rest.
