If you want to get to level 9 fast without grinding, take the Duleian Road all the way up to Loneford and complete the 'Flows Through The Veins' quest - it's 15k xp in one quest and all you're doing is running back and forth, plus dodging monsters.

You can't get that 15k experience that early on. Remember, you have to beat Bucuth. He is a tough one. Unless I'm missing something...

you don't need to beat him in order to complete the quest but you have to embrace the shadow.

well it's an individual's choice what he want to do or not. if you don't want to go with shadow it doesn't mean that others too don't

get combat speed times two, then head for Remgard, or head to the area to track down the dark helmet, east of loneford. but, make sure you have enough potions to sustain you.
