Killing snakes in the snake cave. Most exp you got from the poisonous ones. But you need some lvs first.

I go into the snake cave with lvl 3 or so. the higher your level, the further you will get. good meat and XP Source and a bed nearby

So combined both with puppy slaying and snake cave I get a at least 7 meat, yaaaay :D

In taverns it should be possible to do some gambling game to loose the gold again.
or with luck win a bit...

From Puppy And Snake .

The boars in the same vicinity can hit hard but, if you can take them, they are a pretty good source of gold too. They can get you the same old meat (about the same frequency as puppies) and, at times, animal hair. But they can also, occasionally, disgorge some long dead adventurer's stinky old leather boots that net a neat bundle

Lol, level 23, killed 1403 puppies...
