Cleanup crew needed?

It looks like we could use a few extra forum moderators to clean up this constant advertising and ban the users posting it. I wouldn't mind helping with the problem if you devs want. As long as you wont require me to do too much moderating. Im just sick and tired of the advertising =P

I already pop into the forums a few times throughout the day and what I propose is just deleting the threads and banning the spammers/bots or whatever they are. Just let me know.

I didn't realize how many spammers there were until I registered. Isn't it possible to add restrictions for any new accounts? No bb-code, no link parsing and so on until a certain number of posts have been submitted?

The spammers are actual people, not bots so fighting them becomes a lot harder. We have added recaptcha in order to register. We are also considering adding it to anyone who tries to post with less than five posts. We are looking into the best way to fight the spam without hindering legitimate users.

Any thoughts, comments, or ideas on the subject are welcome.

I notice that it has calmed down a bit lately. I also think they're only posting them in this thread. Maybe if we had an "off topic" thread to post random stuff in, they would migrate to that thread because it wouldn't be going again any off topic rules and wouldn't bother those of us that wouldn't really use that thread anyway. An off topic thread may also help the adorns trail community grow as well. Just some thoughts.

We added some back-end enhancements and security measures as well as the Q&A question to the register which seem to have taken care of things. If you guys want an Off-Topic forum we can set that up too.

Oh. That would explain it then. And I don't see why not to put an off topic forum in. Its kind of nice to be focused solely on the game though. Its up to you guys. Maybe a vote between the community is in order?

i think an off-topic forum might be useful as the community grows. that way those who need answers won't have to sift through useless posts while others can feel free to chat.

but for now, it's probably not necessary considering how low the thread activity is atm.

btw. if we are voting now i'd say yesyesyes for an offtopic. [:
