Although if you use hit and run technique plus save and reload method it's possible to do lodar's quest at lvl 30 [or even lower but much more efforts]. For this you can use coward's boots, villain's armor [or valugha's equipment but low possiblity to find these,] JOF and QSD and you will need CS×2 then all you have to do is Just make sure you engage only with the monster that blocks the way and attack first and run without giving a chance to monster and save [so that if something bad happens you can reload :D].
I don't like to fanny around like that.

In real life I'm quite calm in a crisis, with a computer game I just want to kill kill kill, I'll keep swinging until one of us is dead. If it's not me that's dead but my sword is broken, my armour is shredded and one leg is hanging off - I'll fix that later. :mrgreen:

I think you also have to factor in the DR of the Hirathil - I could probably do the maths if I really wanted to but what are the real damage figures? Somewhere between 15 and 51 is a very wide range, there's no guarantee that I'm hitting @ 51 every time (or is there?), plus my BC differs depending on what's equipped to change things even more.

Having to calculate everything would take the fun out of it for me.

I'll just take the beating and try and learn from it and come back in a different guise.

The Hirathil have a DR of either 10 or 14, so just subtract that from the AD numbers. Which does show where the problem is: your non-weapon AD is so low that you need a lot of damage from the weapon to have much effect. You should put more level ups into AD. Which rings do you have?

I'm concentrating on doing that now. It's a strange thing though, because of this problem I've added AD to my greenest character (lvl 12) at their last two level ups and now they can hardly hit anything!

Rings on my main character are Villain's Ring and Ring of the Protector. I'm checking the directory for more damage inducing equipment and I'd seen that there's a Ring of Damage @ +6 D, but of course you then lose the AC & BC benefits of the more balanced items. There's unlikely to be a quick fix so I'll just grind some more.

I must have tried that at some time as I have two in my inventory. I'll also keep trying for RoLS, there must be one in there somewhere for me.

I've added two levels of AD since extricating myself from the Green Maze Caves and now I have a skill point to burn.

Trying to decide whether to use that to add another (4th lvl) to Hard Hit or to add lvl 2 to Specialisation Weapon & Shield which adds 20% to the equipped weapon's damage (as well as 50% AC).

I'm really enjoying the Brutal Club which does have a good AD figure and 20% on that should add more than just the +2AD from. HH.

Edit:
or to add lvl 2 to Specialisation Weapon & Shield which adds 20% to the equipped weapon's damage (as well as 50% AC).
Scrub that idea, should have worn my specs, I've already got lvl 1 of 1. There is no lvl 2.

I'd always take a Specialization or proficiency over HH, unless I'm already maxed out on all the former that my build needs. And even then I'd go for somethings else - Evasion, Cleave Taunt, or even an immunity.

Proficiencies I already have are:- Fighting Style W & S lvl 2 - Dagger Proficiency, One handed sword, Bludgeoning weapon,Shield, Light armour and Specialisation W & S, all at lvl 1 - I also have the last pair of Oegyth crystals when I can make my mind up what to do with them.

................but, I'm purely looking to deal more damage at the moment and I can't see past HH for that.

It looks like you're set in terms proficiency-based AD boost, but another level of the blunt weapon proficiency will up your AC and get you more hits at the same damage.

Also, though you say you like the club, a faster weapon will get you more swings and therefore more damage per round as long as the AC is close (or better, of course).

Appreciate the approach & attitude, Schmmiiirc!
But I'm about to head back into the Hirathil-swarm-den, so I need some hard numbers :geek:
Yeah, figuring in the DR of Hirathil (14 for 'lower' level ones & 10 for 'higher' level ones, oddly) could make a serious difference in figuring the best weapon to use..
BSS damage range = 3~7 = 5 avg
Skullcrusher range = 0~26 = 13 avg

For arguments sake, let's say yer pony has 15 non-weapon damage pts, so combined with each weapon should avg:
20 = 15 + 5 (BSS)
28 = 15 + 13 (SkCrshr)

then Minus the Hirathil avg DR (12)..
8 = 20 - 12 (BSS)
16 = 28 - 12 (SkCrshr)

Figure likely 4 swings (per round) with BSS -vs- 2 swings with SkCrshr, so..
8 x 4 swings = 32 pts (BSS)
16 x 2 swings = 32 pts (SkCrshr)

Wow..looks like very similar damage per round using either weapon & accounting for Hirathil's high DR -- at least going with my assumed number for non-weapon damage pts (so if you have Lower non-weapon damage pts, then Skullcrusher or similar high-damage weapon may be worth considering--beyond the sheer joy of crushing ghost-skulls.

Caveats:
BSS has 12 extra AC pts, so a bit more likely to land blows vs ole SkullCrusher (esp against the super-high BC Hirathil).
But then SkCrshr does come with Triple (3x) Crit-hits! -except those infernal Hirathil are immune! Arrrggghhh :evil:
Various skills, such as weapon proficiency, can obviously make a difference in determining which weapon is superior in this case.

Btw, Hirathil, on avg (of 8 flavors), have approx 83 HP, so gonna havta survive a couple rounds -- at least.
