I just started this game, and at a 95% hit chance I'd have 2-3 hits miss in a row which is a little weird... then this happened

Here is a description of the formula that calculates the actual hit chance, together with a nice graph:

Since you have AC 95 and the yellow cave ant has BC 80, the resulting actual chance to hit is some 30% (AC - BC being +15).
The ant has 20 HP, so you killed it with your two hits with no damage wasted.

Unfortunately, "hit chance" is a misnomer., Mayweed gives the formula for how it actually works

I removed the % symbol for next version to help avoid the confusion.
