When you give lodar the hornbeam fungus he tells you to go and get him the ingredients for the other potions.NO EXP REWARD!!!Why?i don't know,i think after all the bother it takes to bring it to him i think there should be some sort of reward maybe?I think lodar's potions is a good quest, but when you bring him the ingredients and the fungus, i think there should be some sort of reward.

Hello HirathilMaster12, and welcome to the forums.

It's true that you do not get any XP for bringing Lodar the hornbeam fungus (or other ingredients), but that's because your reward is access to his potions. Some of them are very powerful. Your point it taken though, and we'll discuss it. If we do add XP as a reward, it will not be much ;)

Yeah, I agree with HirathilMaster12, If you give him hornbeam fungus and the ingredients for the potions all you get is the potions, their not even worth it, I mean increases damage by 1 for 5 rounds, block chance by 22 for 5 rounds and 1 dr for 15 rounds, and no exp after running around the world from blackwater to remgard and back to lodar for this??? I honestly think the exp reward should be quite large, I got really tired grinding for arulir skins, wyrm claws and dead spiders and these potions I get in return are worse than the ones you can buy from lodar, If I knew they were so bad I wouldn't even bother, please give us a better reward :?: :!: :)

One could think of all the experience from grinding as the reward. ;)

I admit I have never bothered to get any of those potions from Lodar. These are the requirements and what you get for your effort:

The minor potion of strength requires 1 insect wing, which is very easy to get, and 1 dead spider, which has drop change of 5% from all plaguestriders. It only gives 1 AD for 5 rounds though, which is next to useless.

The potion of improved defense requires 1 ruby gem, which is very easy to get, and 2 wyrm claws, which are dropped only by White wyrms, with a drop chance of 10%. The potion gives you 22 BC for 5 rounds, which is OK, but is it really worth the trip to the top of BWM and back?

The potion of bark skin requires 1 claw, which is easy to get, and 2 Arulir skins, which only have a 1% drop chance, so getting two of them is a lot of work! For all that effort, you get 1 DR for 15 rounds. 1 DR is OK, but not for that amount of work!

I don't think the solution is XP though, I think the solution is to make the potions worth the effort of getting them. Suppose it was 5 AD for 5 rounds? Or 10 AD for 5 rounds? What about 30 BC for 10 rounds? And getting 2 Arulir skins is so much work what if it was 1 Arulir skin, and you got 2 DR for 15 rounds? Or 4 DR for 5 rounds?

What do people think would be worthwhile?

Spoiler about the next release, so don't read it if you don't want to know:
There will be a shortcut to Lodar, so bringing him the required items will be a lot easier than it is now

5AD for the first one sounds like a reasonable yet useful boost. Require two dead spiders though.
For the second one, you should just avoid selling things just because you think you won't need them.
The last one is fair IMHO, as long as you use a DR-heavy build like the one that was presented here not so long ago.

I agree that the second one is the most reasonable. I think the potion of Barkskin is the most unbalanced of all though. You have to kill 250 Arulirs to get a 50% chance of getting two skins. You have to kill 600 of them for a 90% chance. By the time you can get that potion monsters that only do a few AD per hit are irrelevant, and 1 DR is not going to help much against the monsters that are relevant. Tears of the Shadow gives you 2 DR for 20 rounds, as well as a pile of other things.

Admittedly I spent a LOT of time grinding for the required Arulir skins after the initial quick drop for one. I wanted to get four to make the trip back to Lodar worth while. I had no idea what the drop chance was. If I had I wouldn't have done it.

However if the Bark Skin potion were to be beefed up a bit it would be worth while. 2 DR for 15 rounds would be much more worth the grind.

Thats SOOO true, What I always do is rather than selling stuff (I have all the items I need so no money needed)I drop them in Vacors hideout,
So when I saw the required resources for lodars potions all I was missing was arulir skins, I even found a dead spider in my Vacors hideout collection and three white wyrm claws :D

Saw that one in the dev version, but from what I saw I am surprised because so far there are only two new quests that actually work(Halvor and Lodar Shortcut, Nothing in stoutford and fallhaven is empty and lots of missing npc's missing all over the world, I think somethings gone horribly wrong with the dev version?)

I can't think which dev version that would be. Installers are usually not made public, and any that are should have npcs in Fallhaven.
There are many dev versions kicking around within the dev team, and none of them contain everything that has already been done for the next release.
