How viable is regeneration?

Post by Paperbell » Tue Dec 18, 2018 11:21 pm

It doesn't seem to help me much. I guess if you were going on a long trip that involved a lot of out of combat rounds spent walking, it would get you a bit of extra health, but usually you come across beds along the way or have packed some food that will benefit you both in and out of combat. Does it work better once you get some more levels into it?

It is possible to get trapped into dungeons and running low/out of potions/food. Then you will be glad of at least one point on regeneration each 6 seconds.
You can even grind for the Ring of Lesser Shadow, a legendary item, in the Gargoyle Cave that will give you a point in regeneration even in fights.

I view one level as a minimum. As Firefly says, you can get trapped with no potions or food, and maybe there's no bed or you don't want to sleep in it because you don't want to end up there if you fall unconscious (this is another way to get trapped; be very careful about which beds you sleep in). I have two levels, as well as a RoLS, so I get 3 HP back every round that I'm not fighting. With the right food, I can increase that to 7HP per round. I hardly ever use health potions now, and never sleep in beds.

I never put points into regen. I do have two RoLS, too bad the regen doesn't stack.
Get Bonemeal potions asap and buy as many as you can once you have the weapons and armor you want/need.
Also grind for a rapier of lifestealing once you get that you will never need any potions.

Well, that means three legendaries ;)

Regeneration is a nice skill especially for new players. But Jonlins option with just buying bonemeal potions is more practicable if you are more experienced and you don't waste one skill point.

Personally, I could smoothly play through the game without RoLS or RoL just with buying potions and using corpse eater as small benefit after killing enemies.
