The way of a monk is a brand new skill. with that said I'd still would not pick that over any of those other base skills.

I'd say that the Way is an interesting experiment in new build styles. I'm not sure it will be fully equal to other build types in this first iteration. Definitely it's good to get feedback on its ups and downs.

Remember that the are three main factors in a build: gear, skills, and levelups.

Starting from where you were in Charwood, it may be that you would have done different levelups from the beginning if you were aiming for monk. Frankly, I haven't figured out the best approach on these yet.

For gear, there's a couple of new pieces of cloth armor that would be worth a look, especially once you have WotM skill, as they can help for crits. I also think that more monk gear will be added over time.

I hope that people will keep posting about what works and doesn't work about the build.

Thanks for the help!
yes there is one alternative (as far as know)
using Xul'viir (6AP) with marrowtaint or JoF. It is an awesome weapon. In fact, with any kind of 2-handed 6AP weapon you don't need CS, but Xul'viir is the best, from far

as for the monk style, my opinion is that you have to save some skills points for unarmed skill. this skill gives you crazy AC and even a little bit of Dmg/BC. In my opinion it's the best skill for the monk.

Yes, in the beginning, I agree. But it quickly begins to have minimal impact and further from home it gets harder to find a quiet place to hide and regenerate.

There is only one mapchange where monsters can attack you (a bug I have never bothered to fix; it's in the Green Maze). So you can always stand on a mapchange.

True. But how often do you really need to regenerate between map changes? Fair amount yes, and I often find myself needing to do it in the middle of a map.

I find that most of the time, if I need regeneration in the middle of a map, either I entered the map injured and was too impatient to wait or I am not strong enough or well equipped enough for that area.

I disagree. Sometimes I have stood on the mapchange and studied where the monsters go, to look for safe (or at least safer) spots to stand. Sometimes there are places that are completely safe. More often, there are places that are safer, but not 100% safe. The Evasion skill helps with this, and on some maps can change a safer spot to a 100% safe spot (when the monster can be adjacent to it, but will never step onto it).
