Night Visit Quest Somewhat Incorrectly Completed

First I talked to Farrik and followed through with the "Maybe I should tell the guards that you are planning to get him out?" option. I then talked to the Warden and informed him about the Thieves Guild's plan. Immediately following the conversation, I can talk to the Warden again and complete the quest without having to first speak with Farrik—as requested by the Warden; which I presume should be required. However, at this point, when speaking to Farrik again, all of the conversation branches doesn't seem to include an option to tell Farrik that security for tonight will be lessened—as directed by the Warden. I do have the option of partially advancing through the other branch of the quest at this point and get the special mead from the cook. If I do, when the quest is completed the quest item remains in my inventory.

Confirmed. This is one of the very rare quest content bugs reported, and in an early quest ! That's a very nice catch.
Easy to fix though.

Thanks a lot.

I have a complaint, even though it isn't technically a bug. In the quest "Night Visit", after the prisoner escapes, I can still ask the warden about the prisoner and he replies as if he is still there. There is no change in reaction after the event, or a vague suspicion towards me. I think a few changes in the dialogue after the quest ought to fix that.

I remember I was a bit astonished too at his non-reaction.
But I thought the guards are so sure of themselves that they never looked. Escape is just not possible even to think about it...

Hmm...
That's a possibility!

Not that I'm adding anything new but I rolled a new character who considers himself a loyal Feygard citizen. He, indeed, doesn't seem to have the option of fooling the thieves into believing that security is going to be lax on a certain night.

As simplemindead says, you can just tell the Warden you've spoken to the thieves so it doesn't matter, I *think*. WIth this option, you can also get a bed at the Crossroads Guardhouse so not a huge deal by the look of things

Has this actually been fixed yet?

I'm asking cos I've just (for the first time with any of my characters) decided not to bribe the guard to take the mead and went through the same process as the OP.

There didn't appear to be any branch of conversation to give Farrik the Warden's misinformation, but going back to the Warden and telling him that I'd told Farrik did indeed complete the quest. (v0.7.1)
