Nope. Different chars can share images. The gibberish in the file name is a hash code, computed from the visible tiles (changes when the map changes) and the current filter (dark VS light graveyard for example).
When your character enters a map, this hash code is computed, and if necessary, the file is created. Your save then remembers the last hash code for every visited map in order to display the correct image on the world map for your current character.
