Not sure if this as been thought of before but I was thinking it would be good to have like a gladiator type arena where you could battle different characters to pass the time on between updates, this wouldn't be a quest just an ongoing thing.my idea is this, you come across a collosiam type arena where you enter and greeted by a man who asks you if you would like to try out your fighting skills in the arena, he says you can gain gold and experience for participating in them.
The message could go like this!
Would you like to fight in the games?
If yes you must unequip all your gear and fight with the arenas inventory
Which opponent would you like to fight? An option pops up where you can pick between several characters to battle
Which weapon would you like? I thought about this and I think you can pick between several weapons that have the same AC, AP and the same AD so no matter what level you are in the game everybody starts of on the same stats.
Which armour would you like? Once again several options but when all added its the same BC for all of them.
All you fight with is armour, boots, gloves and a sheild, no rings or pendants,
All players start with same hp, AD ext but once you leave the arena you stats go back to your original plus any experience and gold gained from fighting in the arena
Like I said every player starts on a even keel, you can fight as many times as you want and gain gold and experience, once you hit a certain level your opponents get harder and the weapons and armour get slightly better.
This is just an idea and I thought it would give the player more option between updates, your thoughts

This has already been brought up. I believe the reason that it was shot down was that the Main Character is looking for Andor so he doesn't have time to compete in an arena. Now once he finds his brother maybe he will have some free time

Why shoot this down, between updates it giving the player more option at gameplay, I believe the previous suggestion was some kind of online multiplayer game where this idea is not.what do we do between updates once weve finished our quests, go around killing monsters for experience so this is no different to that just a bit more different IMO and fun

I like this idea. Previously suggested arena ideas were based on us fighting each other online and that's why it was shot down. But this idea sounds fun and like another good way to pass time between updates.

I particularly like how stats are changed within the arena so everyone's on the same level within it. We can tie it into the main quest by having our character ask the guy in charge if he's seen Andor, and he can say "maybe, but I'll only talk to someone who's proven themselves in the arena." He can then explain that we'll have to check in all our equipment at the door but it will be returned when we leave, and he'll also give us a potion to drink that will alter our strength, agility and speed so everyone who goes in is at the same level. Upon leaving we'll be given another potion that will return us to normal.

After we fight a few creatures he'll tell us that someone named Andor passed through, beat all the creatures and mentioned going off to look for Lodar's hideaway. He then offers for us to stay and fight a little longer to earn some gold to use during our search. So that's the in-story reason for continuing in the arena.

But to make this appeal to everyone, the XP should be calculated differently here so that it's proportionate to the player's current level.

And if it's like a coliseum we should have one of the creatures look like a lion :shock:

+1 mino good sugestion , we need something more between updates to give the player more options, this is why I suggested something like this!

TRANSLATION: Devs work on Andor's Trail in their free time. They are working as hard and as fast as they can to push out updates as fast as real life allows. Building an arena will take time that could otherwise be used to complete the game. Once the main storyline is finished the devs may have more time for such things.

You're basically asking them to stop working on the game so that they can make something fun for you to do while you wait for them to work on the game. It's sort of a catch 22.

An arena or collesuem (spelling?) would be totally awesome, and im sure it could exist in one of the future cities.

pros:

Fight random monsters for money and exp.

Fight multiple monsters for more money and exp.

Watch npc arena combatants fight and gamble on the fights.

Buy Fried Snake meat (heal 10hp), and Watered Ale (heal 5hp, cause +1 ap cost to actions) from the vendors.

Quests! such as:

Join the Arena.
(you can join the thieves guild, why not an arena?)
You may have to kill a certain monster, or a certain amount of creatures, or a bunch of seperate monsters. you would then have to pay a certain amount of gold to become a gladiator.

Choose a Side.
Within the arena the gladiators are either honourable and fair, or devious and deadly.
Choosing honour would result in being able to buy potent healing and protective potions.
Choosing devious would result in being able to buy potent damage and attack potions.

Become Champion of the Arena.
You must fight three members of the other sides gladiars, one prot, one attack, and one critical build. When you defeat them you are chosen to fight against the Current Champion. This monster could be randomised from the mosters in the world, and scaled to be slighter stronger than the player themselves, and also give a random name to make them special :)
Rewards:
A big influx of gold and xp.
A choice between - Champions armour, Champions Shield or Champions Weapon. Each of these would be a nice new powerful item.

Defend your Title.
A repeatable quest against monsters scaled to your level (all the players with lvl100+ will have as fun of a fight as those in there 40s)
Gain good gold and xp, at the risk of losing your title and your champions armour/shield/weapon.

Cons:
None, apart from some lovely smart peoples who would make it :)
R.I.P MaxDamage and friends.

Maxdamage: One minor problem. Some people have been grinding so much that they are acclaimed Gods or Demigods in AT. Examples include Nyktos, Pyrizzle, Mino, Tek, and Sarumar. All of the VIP members have at least one build at or above lv 100. I think Nyktos and Sarumar are trying for 300. I've got about two builds at level 30. So... Sarumar could probably take on all of my builds bare handed. I can see a minor problem here.

This would not be an online multiplayer arena. It would be in game only. So you wouldn't have to hide from Sarumar ;). This topic has been floating around for the multiplayer version and for just an in game version. (Maybe some super cool moderator type could combine? :mrgreen: ) Anyway I like the idea but this is more of an after thought in the production. Once the main storyline and the world is built then an arena may be added. Until then all the dev team is focusing on the main storyline.
