The bull whip like Indiana Jones used could do some serious damage to an opponent, especially cracking a whip at the speed of sound! They also had Ratsnake whips with balls at the end that did some damage. Metal scourges were also like whips and could damage armor. Your new flail weapon could fit into this category. For AT it could also subdue opponents temporarily. Maybe even have a chance of temporary paralysis!
