You are linking the original work. The derivative is a free purchase from:

Could you share the APK so I can understand why you call it fake app or ripoff?

Just go to Amazon and type in andors trail. You can tell it wasn't from the original dev

This does not mean that the app is a fake or ripoff. Andor's Trail is free software: you have the right to distribute modified and unmodified versions. As far as I can see, these apps from Amazon are legitimate.

Andor's Trail is free and open source, but it is not without restrictions. There are licensing terms, and if you violate the licensing terms we can force a take down (and have done in the past). It's a long time since I looked, but IIRC the Amazon versions do violate the licensing terms, and we asked Amazon to take them down. Amazon just ignored us (unlike Google, which has taken down several rip-off versions).

I am unable to help if you do not provide the necessary information. How does the derivative from HNYD violate the license? Could you publish your communications with Amazon?

I honestly don't recall. It was too long ago. I would need to download the app again and check it. The most common problem is that someone alters, or removes, the licensing information in the app. That is a violation of the licensing terms.

But it's been there for years, and it seems nobody downloads it (possibly because of the review I left), and Amazon has not done anything about it. Either they decided it didn't break the licensing, or they don't care. Either way, they are unlikely to change their mind.

Edit: the link to their source code is broken: http://code.google.com/p/andors-trail/. They added permissions and ads, and they are obligated to publish the source code for that. No source code is a violation of the license. Maybe I'll contact Amazon again.
