The simplest solution is: no free sailing, the boat is a teleporter to another boat in another port.

No swimming. It would clash with all the other features which say that you cant swim. Skill or not, it would be illogical (why cant you swim in any water?). Other than that I enjoy reading new ideas.

Swimming would not work with the current game engine, or the current maps. So it would be a huge amount of work to implement it.

Yeah, even just updating the maps to have separate Walkable and Swimmable layers would be a big project in itself, never mind the rest of the code changes.

See above. "Teleportation" boats

The mermaid cave is a fun idea, but I'm not a fan of the sailboat idea. Teleportation is not really an excepted idea either. It is used sparingly now and we are very reluctant to add any more teleportation as there's got to be some places that you have to work to get to.

Or use the common practice of having a cave/tunnel to travel from Remgard to the island.
