1. Follow-up from last meeting:
Go over previous meetings TODO’s.

TODO: Stephen: Add task in taskfreak about the “how to contribute” text.

2. Completed since the last meeting:

Merged “healfood” branch. All food is now much more effective at healing, but heals over time instead of instantaneously. (already seen in dev builds)

Converted all resources to json. We do not use the old resource format any more. A huge positive change for the game!

Updated content editor. New features include:
- Grid-based editor for power-users
- Export as json. Import json or old resource format.
- Ability to import existing game content by selecting from a dropdown
- Improved usability
- For interested developers: now uses angular.js instead of jqueryui. Awesome framework! :)

Updated Polish translation by tobik9090siemens
Updated Russian translation by istasman.
Updated German translation by SamuelPlentz.

Updated all quests exp rewards to be ten time larger. Thanks to jrozek for the patch!

“More criticals” now only applies if CS>0. Thanks to TriangleGM for finding it!

3. Things that are being worked on:

Going through issue list again on code.google.com

Oskar is working on moving to .po files for translation. Will mean huge changes for translators. Might be a bumpy ride when transitioning from old format though. Beta-testers wanted!

We need to update tutorials and some documents with the updated resource json format and the updated content editor.
TODO: Anyone: Assemble a list of all the pages that we need to update. (Wiki pages on code.google.com and the other wiki).

Interesting idea! Would need a lot of code refactoring on how we draw the map in order to support it. We’ll return to it in the future once we’ve done those changes to the graphics code.

Would also be interesting to provide a setting for the player to select where the quickbuttons should be located.
Providing an option for setting a size for the dpad would also be welcome.

Good idea. We discussed this back in meeting #16. We decided then that we should show the monster’s AP.

Monster movement during combat
(we discussed how to introduce the monster’s movements)
Suggestion: Try adding a percentile that decided whether the monster will actually move in swarm pattern.

5. Open Discussion:

Automatic exp calculation on monsters
Ian: Bosses should give more exp than regular monsters.
Should bosses provide *2 or even *3 exp? Maybe we could even add a way to specify the exp factor per boss monster?
The bosses should be harder with their stats - which will make them give more exp naturally.

“Increased value” and “decreased value” items
Should we add a property to items to make the be worth more (or less)? Could be useful for rare or unique drops.
Could be interesting to have the base market cost different for different merchants.

Flavor text subject ideas:
Reference to a historical event
Reference to a historical person or previous owner
Reference to location (region, city)
Reference to factions or organizations
Physical or usage detail of the item
History of how the item was made
Foreshadowing?
Set up a quest or game event?
e.g. Thief Gloves
Effect: you loot more gold from defeated enemies
Flavor: "In Lower Fallhaven there is honor among thieves. Everyone else is a mark.
TODO: Some coder: Add support for a “description” property on items, where we can place text like this. View the description text on the item info dialog.

Ian - Tree monsters?

We could copy the tree icons into the monster tilesets. The monsters should have some different graphics than the regular trees, so that players with keen sight can spot them.

Ian - achievements?

Good idea, we’ve discussed that before. It’s something that we’d like to do in the future.
Good starting point would be to summarize lists of which achievements there should be.

It’s absolutely something that we will have to do in the future. We’ll most definitely do it, but it requires a lot of coding before we can do it.

Ian - Assassin’s guild quest

Oskar: An updated poll on development priority after the next update would be awesome. The last poll we did resulted in a lot of good ideas.

6. What should we have ready for the next meeting?

Oskar:
- Would like to do some beta-testing on standardised format for translators.
- Would love to begin incorporating ideas on items & monsters from the forums.
- Provide guidance for jrozek that wants to help code some more things.

Next meeting will focus on what content we need to organize for the next release.

Great stuff from the whole team.

On the tree monsters, I suggest leaving the icons completely unchanged. It should still be possible to be surprised, no matter how experienced a player you are...

By the way, I noticed I missed a word in part of the dialogue...

"seems they can pierce the skin and inject a deadly poison, and the poor fellow didn't last long after that, he barely even lasted long enough to tell me his name,"

The word "barely" was left out (I just added it in on the post in the link). So maybe someone should also proof read what I wrote.

I'm really looking forward to Wyrmspawn's quest, with the 3 choices of weapons!
