Andor’s Trail Project Meeting #40
2013-11-17
Present: Oskar Wiksten(oskar.wiksten), Scott Devaney(sdevaney), Matthew White (Nyktos), Ian Haase(Ian), Kevin Pochat (Zukero)

1. Follow-up from last meeting:
Go over previous meetings TODO’s.

2. Completed since the last meeting:
v0.7.1a1 released.

Added xhdpi and xxhdpi icons. This will make the icon look better on newer devices.

Updated code that reads maps (reads fewer fields).

Updated icons for some of the really old monsters (villagers in the first towns). Slightly sharper icons, added border.

Looked up all the pages in the “Ideas and future development” forum and made a list of all the good ideas.

3. Things that are being worked on:
Testing mobile version of the forums. Those of you who access the forums regularly via mobile PM sdevaney for beta testing if you would be interested in giving some feedback on the new design compared to the old.

(Reviewing the newest "alpha" build of Andor's Trail that was announced on the forum, and making a list of notations for editing, revision, and possible bugs. Progress is ongoing. ~ SCS)

TODO: Oskar: Release v0.7.1 to Google Play “any day now”, unless we find any more bugs.
TODO: Oskar: Check with Russian translation team about translating the release text.

Oskar: playing with device-accelerated rendering, instead of software-based as we have today. Opens up possibilities for really nice animations and much smoother graphics. So far:
- Able to play several attack & damage animations at the same time without them looking awful.
- Pulsating attack-selection icon.
- Large maps actually fill whole screen, without black borders at the edges
Hopefully to come:
- Smooth movement of the actors.

TODO: Oskar: Send effect animation tiles to Scott.

Zukero working on scripting engine. http://andorstrail.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4342
TODO: Developer: comment on the pull request from Zukero with the initial scripting engine.

4. Discussion of some forum threads/posts that people have found interesting, or want clarification on, or maybe a question answered:
Ian: Patch for sortable inventory: http://andorstrail.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... &view=next
Interesting! Might need some updates (code is a bit old now). Also might be interesting to have the list split into headlines for each item category.

Gem of warmth - extraordinary or not?
Unclear definition of what “extraordinary” actually means. So far we only have it on armor and weapons.
TODO: Any developer: set the Gem of warmth as extraordinary.

Ideas about building new bonuses based on which monsters you’ve killed so far, or the type of items you’ve used so far.

Lots of good suggestions from Axor
http://andorstrail.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4383
TODO: Dev group: Read it

5. Open Discussion:
Ian:
Content editor: What about a note just behind every weapon category which tells you if this category is one- or two-handed
TODO: Anyone with html skillz: Update the html in the content editor for items.

Resistance against actor conditions (on special gear or for potions)?
On the roadmap. We just haven’t done it yet.

Priority survey summarizing
TODO: Scott & Oskar: Summarize it.

Interesting new pathfinding article:

6. What should we have ready for the next meeting?
Oskar: Playing with new rendering code. Will go through Issue Tracker on Googlecode & TaskFreak.

Matthew: Re-prioritize personal development agenda & update Taskfreak points.
Submit rough draft of dialogues / Share via Drive.

Scott: Hope to have beta tests done for mobile forum version.

Ian: Create the shortcut from/ to Lodar’s house.

Kevin: Working on the scripting engine.

With the pending release of version 0.7.1 to the Google Play Store, I have retired from further reviewing the alpha version, after having found and reported all that I know time will allow for beforehand.

"Extraordinary", as far as I have found it to occur in the game is used applicably. The only immediate thing that comes to mind that may obscure that understanding is the frequency of it's use. For some of the content I am considering, the introduction of the category of "Mythical" and/or "Mythological" may be an appropriate consideration.
One of even fewer...
