spritedesign with Gimp/Photoshop.
leveldesign with Tiled.

Thanks everyone for the support. It really helps keeping the motivation up !

As for help, we always need some !
Current areas where we could really use some:
- Quest creation (including NPCs, items, dialogues...).
- Maps creation for new areas.
- Town population (for a new town for which we have empty maps).

Some new sprites would be great, especially for new monsters or maps, or even items, but IMHO, those could be either driven by demand (a mapmaker having special needs for instance), or offered out of pure inspiration without any preconceived aim.

Don't hesitate to read the contribution guide and to try out ATCS for some introductory help.

Post about your ideas, or preliminary works in the "Miscellaneous Ideas" section.

Make a post, or PM me if you need help setting some tools up.

Unless we encounter a yet unplanned technical hurdle, the plan is to update the existing game.
If I understand correctly the reasoning behind this question, the answer so far is yes, you can keep the old AT installed to get a GPlay notification when the app is updated. :)

That sounds awesome! But how did you get permission to the app? About 1,5 years ago when I was an active forum member Oscar was nowhere to be found.

hey, for new town ideas, i'd like to be able to travel past flagstone (going south) so I can inform that guy's wife that he is still alive. and some quest to help him get out of there to return home. e.g. quest entry "i have visited a potion maker that says he can make a potion to restore narael strength, he just needs x amount of this and x amount of these." the town in question is stoutford. you could also include some mid level quests. levels 6-10 seems to be a area of interest.
