Fellow adventurers, the wait was not in vain after all.

We are almost there.

After over 4 and a half years, we are almost ready to publish a new version of Andor's Trail to the wide world.

But before unleashing the beast to the masses, we want to give you a chance to test it first, and tell us what goes wrong, what feels wrong, and what you love the most in this upcoming version.

But before I give you the link you're waiting for, here are a couple of warnings. Make sure to read it, and to understand it!
  • DON'T OVERWRITE YOUR SAVES!
  • If you overwrite your save, the new save will be tainted as "beta", and unusable in the Google Play version. Just save to a new slot.
  • There's a known issue about the worldmap being incorrect or incomplete when using old saves. Just visit the area again to have it displayed correctly. I'm looking into what I can do about that.
  • If you have an alpha or F-Droid version installed, you'll have to uninstall it first. This beta version should install correctly over the Google Play version though.
  • If you had to uninstall before installing this one, make sure to check the "Preferences" screen in order to set them again to your liking.
  • Did I mention that you shall not overwrite your old saves ?
So, it's now time for me to give you THE LINK. Here it is: Andor's Trail version pre-0.7.2 beta 1 APK! Edit: The beta is now closed....

After downloading and installing (I'm assuming you know or will find how to do it, otherwise, it's probably a good idea to wait for the Google Play version), we'd like you to tell us how your exeprience was. Please include the following information too:
- Device brand and model (Samsung SM-G950 is more interesting than "Galaxy S8" for example).
- Your settings in "preferences".
- Your device's language.

What you can, and should, do:
- Try your old saves, report if any progress is lost, or any kind of weird stuff (like a unique NPC reappearing while it was dead in the GPlay version)
- Try a new game, progress as far as you can, and report any issues, bugs or weirdness.
- Torture the game as much as you like, and give some feedback!

Still doing good. No issues yet Omg thank you for the sorting of items i been doing it the harx way. Droppimg the items amd putting them in abc order. Love the new layout so

Is there a changelog? Not only is it great for building excitement, it can hint at where testers may be more likely to find bugs.

Not exactly a changelog, but this will make it easier to find the new content. It's a spoiler, so read at your own risk!
New quests, with their approximate starting locations:
Roses (Guynmart)
Marble hunting (Houses outside Guynmart)
Rare delicacies (Hill before Guynmart)
Mine for the taking (SE of Gauward’s house by the river)
Just the beginning (NE of Loneford, but you have to circle round via the river to get there)
Rumblings (Stoutford)
The roots of love (Stoutford)
A secret garden (Remgard, but need to start Roots of love first)
The thorns of vengeance (Stoutford)
Colonel Lutarc (Stoutford)
Lost girl looking for lost things (Stoutford)
Stoutford’s old castle (Stoutford)
A path to the Duleian road (Fallhaven)
The way out is through (Lodar)
Surprise? (Crossglen)

Guynmart can be found across the bridge on the way to Feygard. Beware the fog ;)

Stoutford is more-or-less on the path to BWM. The BWM maps also have a new layout. And the dark mine to get there is now worse :lol: :evil: :lol:

All those empty maps around Loneford have been filled in (up to the end of the dried up lake bed). So if you have a hole, you missed one.

There are some new maps on the way to Remgard, with a new NPC (but no quests) that you may want to visit. To find them, just stay north of the river rather than crossing. Also a couple of new maps in the mountains on the way to Remgard (there's almost nothing there though. Almost ;) ).

In total, there are now 500 (hey, nice round number!) places to visit. One is extremely hard to find (deliberately so), but not necessary for anything.

There are a number of lootable items. Some good, some completely worthless. So look around.

You can get one more Oegyth crystal

There is one more legendary item and one more extraordinary item available only by very rare drop. You should obviously not go hunting for these in the beta, I'm just letting you know they exist.

Doesn't everyone keep backups of their savegames? And periodic zipfiles?

Or am I just paranoid...

Unfortunately, no, they don't. And the dev team definitely does not want to be held responsible for savegames that are destroyed by an alpha / beta build. So we give more warnings than most people would deem to be necessary, rather than less.

Just 2 seconds in on this beta testing and I've gotta say I love the home screen of the game it's fantastic and the movement of the monsters is much improved. Seemingly they slide now rather than the blocky movement from before. Thanks and we'll done just on this so far. I'll continue hounding the rest now 😍
