It's that time again. A new alpha of Andor's Trail is out for those interested that want to help test the new version before we release it to Google Play (Android Market).

Please note that this is an ALPHA version, which means that there may be several bugs still left in the game. It is therefore very important to SAVE YOUR GAME to some untouched slot and to BACKUP YOUR SAVEGAME before even installing this alpha version. The game might still contain bugs in the storyline or otherwise that are not reversible. Savegames produced by this version might not be readable by the release version.

That being said, there are a lot of interesting new things for you players in this version. Almost two thousand lines of new dialogue and several new major quests are some of the highlights. See below for a complete list of changes.

Anyway, note that this is an alpha test, so the purpose of releasing this version is that we want input on things that work and things that does not work. For example, can your old savegames be loaded? Do you get any force-closes?

Major changes:
  • 80 new maps, up to a total of 284
  • 10 new quests
  • ~150 new monsters & NPCs
  • ~60 new items
  • ~1900 lines of dialogue, up to a total of ~5100.
  • 6 new skills (5 visible)
  • A certain NPC that can upgrade items
  • Temporary blessings given by a certain NPC
  • Improved memory-management of loading graphics
  • Quantities on quickbar buttons
  • "Critical skill" replaces old "Critical chance".
  • Immunity to critical hits for ghosts, undead and demons.
  • Re-sort the player's inventory by moving items to top/bottom.
  • Splatter images when the player kills monsters
  • Gameplay help in about/help
  • Lots of bugfixes!
Translation updates:
  • Added Portugese translation (thanks Mira).
  • Updated French translation (thanks Misty Soul, thonyc4 & zorun.42).
  • Updated Italian translation (thanks Joker and k6blue)
  • Updated German translation (thanks Samuel, Gottkaiser, Bomber, caga, buddyCasino, cngunners14)
  • Updated Russian translation (thanks e.solodookhin & shell.andor)
Full changelog of things not mentioned above:
  • Kaverin's quest in Remgard, continuation on the Vacor/Unzel story (thanks Nyktos, sdevaney!)
  • Gameplay help in the about section (thanks Nyktos & sdevaney!)
  • 3 new high-level skills (Rejuvenation, Taunt, Concussion).
  • Critical hit skills "Internal bleeding" and "Fracture".
  • Increased critical skill of some monsters.
  • Added property to maps that are considered outdoors (will be used for worldmap).
  • Fixed unresolvable quest "Missing pieces" (thanks chaosrunner87)
  • Updated quest text for "Feygard errands" (thanks fiernaq)
  • Fixed bug where the monster attacks would not change state to completed if you enter inventory while the monsters are attacking (this also fixes one long outstanding bug with double monster attacks if you enter inventory).
  • Added journal fragment in BWM cabin that gives a hint on how to get out of there.
  • Changes to critical hits - now based on "critical skill" that defines the effective critical chance by a nonlinear formula (sqrt).
  • Fixed lots of Android lint warnings.
  • New graphics for red damage animation.
  • Added better script triggers to Mikhail's conversation while doing the bread and rats quests.
  • Minor conversation correction to wellguard in Loneford (issue 259, thanks bluers0 & Samuel)
  • Remove slider from bulkselection dialog when there is just one item, provide image&name in bulkselection dialog (issue 279, thanks Samuel)
  • Auto-close the level-up dialog if the player cannot level up (issue 284)
  • Bugfix for spawning NPCs on top of sign areas (such as for Ulirfendor for the "Dark protector" quest).
  • Disable Android Lint errors for building with incomplete translations.
  • Additional graphics for new items and NPCs (thanks to DeBray Bailey).
  • English conversation corrections, do not use "patron" to mean "owner" (thanks Grävling)
  • Some map fixes from issue 177 (thanks Samuel)
  • Cleanup of misplaced tiles on lots of maps.
  • "The dark protector" questline with 500 lines of conversation, consisting of 3 new quests and a new skill.
  • Fixed FC issues when returning to the app from another app.
  • Wider walkways in northern Fallhaven.
  • Minor cleanup in pwcave* and waytobrimhavencave* maps.
  • Bugfix: Do not remove other lingering actor conditions when changing equipment (for example, if the player has a condition caused by something else with duration="forever", that condition would be removed when equipping or unequipping an item).
  • Support for different types of item requirements in conversation replies. For example, requiring the player to wear a specific item instead of just having it in inventory.
  • Implementation of monster classes. Will be used for skills, resistances and categorizing of monsters.
  • Fixed bug with Fallhaven tavern bed (issue 287) (Thanks to Grävling for finding it!)
  • Removed selftest methods (moved to separate unit test project).
  • Added alignments & factions to the player object. This will be used to make several groups of monsters hostile under certain circumstances.
  • Updated reward system for conversations. Rewards can now be skills or actorconditions and not just items and quest progress as before.
  • Item requirements for selecting conversation replies now also support requiring the player to be wearing a specific item, and having a requirement without removing the item when selecting the reply.
  • Allow scripted conversation text to contain the player's name (using $playername as placeholder in the text).
  • Combine visual effect values for effects that are caused every turn, such as poison (issue 268)
  • Added LruCache for better caching of item tile images.
  • Corrected bug that caused the player to move without user input after combat.
  • Added safeguards to model state when buying and selling items (Issue 273, thanks chitul!)
  • Refactoring of TileManager that loads image tiles.
  • Initial implementation of translation validator in javascript.

Given the popularity of Andor's Trail, we can safely say that this game is a huge success. Currently, we are at 300k+ downloads, and with this version we will likely see a lot more new players reach this forum.

We developers will now focus on fixing the last few issues that are still present in this alpha before we release it to Android Market, and then start looking ahead on to what we can do in v0.6.12 ! We are really excited to start working on new content and additional features to further enhance the enjoyment for you players!

Bits and pieces quest. A bug here. I already accepted the guest and after that when i talk again to Thorin and ask to use bed or goods The explanation of quest starts again.

Strange bug, im currently somewhere east.. Need to say I love this area. But monster loot box or short notification are not shown after every battle....

Newer mind i just notced, the dialog box shows up only when i got something more than experience poits (gold and/or item)

I am really happy to see the game advance so well. I am looking forwards to check out the new version.

I was admitted to have a try at my final exams at the university, which means I will be busy the next two months. But I have a rough outline for a quest that I want to work on. Something about an arranged marriage where the fiancé ran away. You either "convince" him to agree to the deal or help him to make his escape.

I need to say this Remgard area quest is wonderfull. I love ewery line of conversation. Rewards is also well balanced and intresting ones.

Some bugs in Remgard area:
-Conversation with Norath, never ends without choosing leave
- five idols quest says Larni lives in northwest, but IMO he lives in north
-after completed five idols quest, emerei is not affected..

New critical systems is nice one, but is this a bug; in Invenrory view, my weapon stats are 408%, 94-101 and 103*6.0. But in Overview there are new crit 40% ?????

I'm headed towards carn tower and I noticed a rogorn was back.
This is a map resetting issue or have other seen this in the new version? It is most definitely a map error as I went back through the mine south of prime and all my loot bags were gone, the "tourist" was back and eager to lead me back to Blackwater.
