Вітання всім. Деякий час назад знайшов цю гру. Вона нагадала мені Dungeons and dragons-ігри, в які я грав у дитинстві. Я хочу долучитися до перекладу. Мої знання англійської дуже посередні, але я можу звірятися з іншими слов'янськими мовами. Тим паче, що гра має маленький обсяг поточного перекладу, який давно не оновлювався. Буду намагатися перекладати максимально точно, дотримуючись літературних норм, звичайно.

Hello everyone. Some time ago I found this game. She reminded me of Dungeons and dragons games which I played as a kid. I want join to translation. My knowledge of English is very mediocre, but I can check the text with other Slavic languages. Moreover, the game has a small amount of current translation, which has not been updated for a long time. I will try to translate as accurately as possible, following literary norms, of course.

I check with Translation Memory. It often offers non-machine text with fairly good translation. But sometimes it gives a translation that is completely unlike the original. For example,

Let's see who dies here.

Translation Memory: Зараз побачимо, хто мав би готуватися.

I read about the principles of Translation Memory work. But why does the translator show such a dissimilar version? I will be glad to receive an answer.

We are always grateful for any help we can get with the development of AT. Translations are important, because they open up the game to a larger audience. That's good for us, because we have already put in the work to create the game, so the more people that can benefit, the better. Even if the translation is not perfect, it's better than no translation, and it's less work for another translator to clean up than it is to start from scratch.

For "Let's see who dies here" Google Translate gives "Подивимося, хто тут помирає." Is that better?

rijackson741, thanks for understanding. I assume that Memory takes a translation from existing more literary line translation from another languages or similar Ukrainian line.

Yes, i was thinking about it. Correct accurate translation may be

Давай подивимось, хто тут помре.

OK. I have to take your word for it. They are all unintelligible to me

Nobody has done anything with the Ukrainian translation in a long time, so if you want to give it a go, you are free to do so.

As I said, if you want to translate more, have a go at it. It's really just a question of grinding away at it. And maybe finding friends you can rope in to the work
